Just an update for anyone else in a similar position.

I followed the instructions on Chatty's link (Thanks Chatty ) and managed to get promises of refunds along with confirmation emails from both Easyjet and Ryanair but boy did they try to ram the vouchers down my throat first.

I made a point of simply typing "I have a question to ask" every time they asked what my enquiry was about, previously I had mentioned a refund and got nowhere. As a result I got through in minutes whereas before it had been hours without getting through.

Encouraged by this I went back to Transavia and even got a promise of a refund from them!

Promises are one thing but at least a bit of progress has been made.
