Here's the fracking timeline. Note the planning officer for Lancashire County Council recommended approval after Cuadrilla installed acoustic barriers.

By the way the gas accusation is a load of hogwash.
The gas fiels are located in the West of Canada but 70% of the population live in the Eastern side of Canada. There isn't any pipeline capacity to transport the gas from West to East and as a consequence the American exports of gas to Eastern Canada are growing.Furthermore gas accounts for only 10% of electricity generation in Canada with hydro electricity taking 60%.
