So a comedienne goes on a programme and comes up with a figure and it is now gospel. I had a major operation in 1998 and was quoted £10,000 to have it done at the same hospital. So those charges have always been around. I don’t see the problem. If someone has saved their money, rather than peeing it up against the wall every night, why shouldn’t they be able to pay. I presume the monies go into the NHS coffers and as long as no one loses their place on the NHS waiting list.
