General   (General discussion, talk about anything.)

Started by: Tommy Two Stroke (15405)

The Stork closed some 30 years ago and it seemed to be the first of a spate if pub closures in the late 1980's and early 90's and what had happened is that criminality had taken over in those pubs, with landlords being forced to pay protection money to villains, it was known as 'skimming' the local boozers and in the Storks case, it closed and reopened a few times and had a few fires and ended up in a dangerous and derelict state and the council couldn't make contact with the owners of the property, in order to tell them to make the structure safe, so eventually the council went to law and possessed the property and had it demolished, with the intention of sooing the owners for the costs incurred in demolishing the old Stork pub.
