I remember when canteen always had "carrots and turnips" on the menu, but what you always got was "carrot and swede". I could never understand why the aversion to putting the name, swede, on the menu.

Wonder if it was the same reason why people would not eat the powdered egg from US in WW2 because it had the Bald Eagle on the label.
