General (General discussion, talk about anything.)
'...You been listening to Tony Blackburn?'
No, not at all. To be perfectly honest, I do not have anything against Tony Blackburn, it is just that I do not listen to the radio that often these days.
I chose the three songs as they are different to each other and it was done in a spontaneous manner. I had a number of titles in mind, but decided on the three I typed as a pleasant selection.
Additionally, I was going to add 'The Hinges On The Door' by Connie Smith, but decided that three were enough.
At the time I was typing the three songs shown, I considered numerous areas of association, such as: Diana Dors, Hinge & Bracket, My Eyes Adored You, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Ring My Bell, Baker Street (lots of doors) etc.
I thought, as there is no 'door' in the title of the first song ('I Hear You Knocking' by Dave Edmunds) mentioned, I thought that it would be fine to continue in a similar way. But, I decided to keep to the theme of 'door' in the title.
Anyway! To continue and with some of my personal favourites:
- 'Lookin Out My Back Door' & 'Door to Door' by the extremely talented Creedance Clearwater Revival. Musicianship and songwriting ability all wrapped up in one. The Fogerty brothers never failed to hand us a memorable guitar riff and some clever lyrics. My favourite of CCR is still 'Bad Moon Rising'; what a touch of genius to use the song in 'An American Werewolf in London', because it made the scene in the film even more sensational.
- 'Back Door Man' by Howlin' Wolf. Covered by too many to mention - just an absolute classic Blues number. To be driving through America on a glorious day with this sound pulsating from the speakers is a scene of indescribable beauty. And, if you can get your hands on a 1953 Cadillac Fleetwood, you're away - 'California Dreaming' on 'Route 66'
- 'Behind Closed Doors' by Charlie Rich. Just one of those songs to soothe the beast in you. Along with 'Easy' by The Commodores/Lionel Richie just perfect on a warm and sunny Sunday morning - especially with a nice cup of tea and to help you to recover from one of those rough and regrettable nights.
Now, I think it's time to seek escapism from this computerization and lay technology to rest for the night, put that kettle on and take things 'Easy'.
