My grandmother supervised school meals back in the early fifties.
She made the most amazing Parkin ever. It was full of walnuts too.
I don't think that was ever a pudding on school meals.
Just a fantastic treat for her grandchildren. I think the reason it's not commonly on sale in bakers or supermarkets is because it's expensive to produce, if done properly.
