Are you finding what I did, Elizabeth? As you get older, the lens prescription needed gets more and more complex, and the price skyrockets accordingly. And as for the frames, what were once-upon-a-time NHS frames, suddenly are now ridiculously over-priced designer-frames.

I do not renew as frequently as I should. It is just too damned expensive to do so!

The style usually called 'John Lennon glasses', I am sure I must have paid the designer out of my taxes when it was an NHS frame.

Now a couple of hundred quid!

Somehow, I think that is lining the pockets not of any designer, but of someone who has become the 'rights owner' of a registered design!
