I think it will be a long time before the UK reaches anything like pre EU days. At that time the UK had a much more diverse and broader manufacturing base, today much of our earnings are service/financial based which can easily be moved/located anywhere in the world. Also ex empire countries can and are trading with whom they want to. New trade agreements will take years to thrash out. Remember we are still in the EU for two more years.
