The father of one of our members was the butcher at the Ben Turner shop mentioned above. His member name is Jim Latham and he is friendly with a guy who lived in California Street. If you email him via Ron@wiganworld and tell him what your looking for he may be able to help. It may be a long shot but it may turn up something.

Thanks KB.
Yes, California St. was very close to the Pemberton Loop line, and in fact the fronts of the houses were facing the railway embankment which made California St. back to back with the houses on Poolstock Lane facing the end of Worsley Mesnes Drive.
I'm hoping I know you,ACR. Contact WW and we'll take it from there.
So, not too much of a long shot afterall

Yes Jim that's interesting. I was Anne Crowther before I was married and left wigan. My parents were Hilda and Harry Crowther 34 Poolstock Lane. My grandad and grandma Bob and Louie Adamson did live in California St before Poolstock Lane and that is why I would like photographs of it he street .
I have many memories of your dads shop and him. My sister Anita went to school with Gillian( Hankey).
