Swallows

Started by: orlando (47)

I was just thinking that I hadn't seen any swallows this year, but went for a walk up the canal tonight and saw loads. But are they late this year? Same for Swifts and House Martins.

They were late this year, but we spotted swallows towards end May but swifts were later

I've seen loads of swifts whizzing about this year and more birds of prey too which is great

I think they've all gone now, don't think I've seen any for a week or two.

Next year I must remember to make a note of the dates.

Not seen any at all today, so they have possibly left the Wigan area for this year. Only a few weeks until the Geese arrive at Martin Mere. The seasons just keep rolling on

I always reckon that 7th August is about the last time I'll see, or hear, swifts. You can set your watch by them. They are incredible creatures.
