A very good welcome return to everybody.
Hope you are all well.
A lovely bright sunny cloudless day here in Blighty, 21C forecast.
A really busy morning in the garden, I’ve cut some of the hedges, edged my lawns, which I cut yesterday, and done some weeding.
A nice relaxing lunch of oat cakes with Pat Pep (Gentleman’s Relish) and strawberries, while doing the words.
This arvo a walk up Rivvy, if I have the energy!!!!!! LOL
Mo, I bet you’re in seventh heaven with this current weather, anyroad I hope you’re getting some leisure time in the garden.
I suspect Marie is on a jolliday.
Marie, I watched the second half of the Wigan v Warrington match, it was a close fought thing, and Wigan were unlucky to lose.
Hope Vince can pop on, it seems his wi-fi is not perfect.

Lizzie, welcome back, sound like you’ve had a super break, well done.

Hello all,yes it's a lovely morning,it makes so much difference.

I'm sorry I missed the quiz last night Ray..and yes our Lee face-timed at the
same time to tell us..guess what,he has a friend that breeds Chihuahuas,
and there's a little one that's quiter than the rest, and his friend asked did I
want him..I've been going on about having a dog for I don't know how long,
I know you're not too keen on dogs Ray,but I've wanted another for a few
years now,and at last I'm having one..when we went to Daves Tuesday his
gardener was there and she brought her little Griffon with her,he jumped
straight on my knee..so that kicked me off again..so..I'm having one of my
own..chuffed just isn't the word.

Hello Marie,I've sent you an email flower.

Well just a couple left..matt,mete,acme,enema...that's it.

Hello Vince,so glad you're back with us.

A very good Saturday to all.
A cloudy day here in Blighty and just now trying to rain, 15C forecast.
A lazy morning doing nowt, with no guilt, I’ve had a busy week.
This arvo we may not get a walk in, the sky is looking increasingly ominous.

Mo, I’m sorry you’re not getting a puppy, but as you say, they have taken a lot of the hard work out of owning it, it’s house trained and all the injections done, I hope you get lots of pleasure out of owning it

The quiz was disappointingly attended last night, but Corky came on late when he was chucked out of The Boil’s Head, and Marie came on early this morning.

Have a great weekend everybody.

A belated hello to all.
Another pleasant sunny cloudy day here in Blighty, 18C in Leyth this arvo.
We are with BT for our internet, and normally we get good service, but we have been without a connection all day, most unusual.
It came back on somewhere around 4-30pm, just before our ‘tea’.
I didn’t think there would be any more words left after you brainboxes, but I’m pleased with the few more I squeezed out.

Mo, I just LOVE the name of your new little pooch, ‘Gizmo’, just brilliant.
Mo, you don’t pap on, it’s good to hear of folk’s goings on!!!! LOL
Marie, I am dreadful first thing in a morning, I can’t function and I don’t come round until mid to late morning, just nobody speak to me and leave me alone!!!!!LOL

This arvo a walk round Rivvy unless we are rained off.

Mo, I do my wine in two 10 litre plastic vessels, they are about 10” diameter x 10” tall, and I keep them in the airing cupboard next to the bathroom, so they take up very little space.
I simply add the grape concentrate, top up with tepid water, add yeast, and leave to brew.
It takes about 2 weeks in Winter, and 12 days in Summer.
I store the finished wine in the grape concentrate containers, non of the faff of washing bottles, and it doesn’t last long LOL !!!!!!

A very good midweek to all.
A cloudy nondescript day here in Blighty, 17C max. forecast.
A busy morning doing domestics.

Just watching the BBC celebrations of the D Day Landings, 75 years ago tomorrow.
It’s made me think of my Dad who was in the Royal Army Medical Corps and was part of the D Day Landings.
He never spoke of the war when I was younger, but when my Mum died I spent a bit more time with him and he told me of his experiences.
I can’t believe of the horrors he would have seen, as he tended the wounded, dying and dead.
I had a tear in my eye this lunchtime.

Just to lighten things up, Mo, it’s lovely to know your little mate is doing well, bless.

Good to have you back Marie, I bet you’re glad to be back.

A very good day to everybody, hope you are all well.
A cool wet not very nice day here in Blighty, only 11C forecast.
A busy morning racking some Chardonnay and then cleaning all the downstairs floors.
The talk about ‘Walter Hurst at HHS went very well last night, we were shown a video of him recorded the week when he closed his shop in 2001, he was a real character.
There were DVD copies which HHS had done, so we bought one for us and one for our Kit.

This arvo , our usual big shop in Leyth.

Mo, your love of animals comes across in your posts, I admire your stance on animal welfare too, and your need to be vegetarian.
Hope you are improving Vince.

As usual, well done to Marie for starting us off.

Lizzie, we’re not morbid or anything, but we find cemeteries are quiet, peaceful reflective places.
Seems like you’re having a good mix of warmth and rain, enjoy.
Thanks as ever.

Lucy the smallest pug was a bit too eager, and Gizzy started
to growl at her..never knew he could growl,so we'll probably
leave him at home next time.Thats it,I'll stop boring you
all with his exploits now .

Hello Marie, isn't this rain terrible, plus according to the
news we have it all next week as well.

Ray,thank for your comments..you're a love.I bet it was
interesting last night at HHS.

front of(we think) his wifes grave and he was having a long

A big hello to all.
A bright sunny cloudy day here in Blighty,18C forecast.
Another busy morning cleaning.
This arvo our usual big shop in Leyth.
We’ve been a bit disappointed with Sainsies of late.
They have had computer problems and this has caused them to have ‘inventory errors’, so there has been very little fruit and veg.
We have complained to the managers and have been met with lame long winded excuses to cover up their mismanagement, not very happy.

Mo, sorry you didn’t get to see Lee on Sunday, but you will see him on Friday, so something to look forward too, and a new tablet of your own
I was considering a tablet or i-pad for myself, but to be honest my eyesight is going downhill, long hours sat behind a computer screen for nearly 30 years have taken their toll.
I think the biggest tablet screen size is about 10”, whereas my laptop is 17”.
Anyroad enjoy it when you get it.

A big midweek hello to all.
A bright sunny cloudy day here in Blighty, 19C max. forecast.
A busy morning cleaning the car, I’m not one of those obsessive sorts who cleans the car every week , it gets done when I have the time or inclination.

Mo, we’ve seen The Houghton Weavers a few times, very sad about Tony, no age really.

mall-mail-mayor-moral-loam-loamy-limo-roam-army.

Hope Marie is OK, she doesn’t seem to have been around for a couple of days.

Lizzie, you are having a cold snap aren’t you?.
I'm sure you’ll get well wrapped up.

Blimey, cedi-cered-cervid yesterday, whodathowtit!!!!!!!

Cedi - a paper money and monetary unit of Ghana, equal to 100 pesewas.
Cered - to wrap in or as if in a cerecloth, especially a corpse.
Cervid - any of a family (Cervidae, the deer family) of ruminant artiodactyl mammals (such as the elk, moose, or white-tailed deer) that have solid deciduous antlers.

More knowledge.
Thanks for our words.

Good morning dear friends..💜☀️..well done with your words...😊👍

Ray, I do remember Keith Floyd ...we get the odd rerun of his shows here still ...😊👍...glad you are enjoying the new words...me too..😊

Good to know you’re feeling better Marie ..and that you enjoy or thread..xx

Our Maureen...the alternator charges the battery as you drive I think....if it is not working a light will indicate this on the dash....it happened to my dad’s car when we went for a trip to the country here....luckily we had a Holden(Vauxhall) car and they had plenty of spares for it...otherwise we would have been stuck in the country ...😳

Vince, you are so lucky to have mostly free parking.
To be fair, parking in Wigan isn’t too bad if you don’t use the multi-storied parking.
Parking on Bridgeman Terrace is £2-10p for two hours, which is usually enough for a shopping trip.
The worst place in the UK is the Lake District, we usually spend £35 to £40 a week when we are up there.

Lizzie, good to know you are keeping warm, us ‘oldies’ feel the cold weather don’t we? LOL!!!!!!

Marie. We love going to Dunham Massey.
There is a Hall which is well worth a visit, it was used as a hospital in WW1, they recreated it as a hospital a couple of years ago.
There are formal gardens which are lovely to walk round, and a deer park.
The house and gardens are expensive, £7 to park and £10 to go in the gardens, the deer park thankfully is free.
We are National Trust members, so get to park and go in the gardens and hall for free.
It is in Cheshire, the nearest town of any size is Altrincham.
We usually go via the M60 orbital motorway anti-clockwise and come off just before Barton High Level Bridge.
You the pick up the A57 towards Warrington and turn left over Warburton Toll Bridge.
Then there is a convoluted drive through the back lanes, you would need a map, it’s too complicated to describe.
The journey is about 45 minutes from Westhoughton.
It might be worth considering joining the National Trust, current ‘Joint Membership’ (man and wife) is £120 per annum or £10 per month.

Wigan Rugby team won last night against Hull Kingston Rovers.

I don't know if you remember Ainscough's skip business in Standish. I have been told that he has founded an Equestrian Centre for children who have learning difficulties down Pepper Lane. Isn't that great.

Have a good weekend everyone and see you next week.

Hello all..just got back.
Marie re- the sun cream..I agree that sometimes you wonder how we all
survived in the summer, but I don't think we had temps like they do in Spain,
or Australia.

Ray,Dave told us it was a Merc but sometimes his memory gets the better
of him,he told us this morning that it's another Jag,it's having a couple of
adjustments made so haven't seen it yet,but he says it only just fits into his
garage,we ran him down to Asda this morning..he picks it up at the end of
the week.

I only have a couple left,but I love these difficult ones.morn,coir,curio,noir,
norm,incur,zircon...Zirconium

Vince will have more..when he has time to join us.

Hello Marie..every day a little better eh!!
Re- Ainscoughs...our Pauls friend used to work for Bill Ainscough..we
spent an afternoon at his house a few years ago,and what a house.

Thanks our Lizzie,start of a new week..we don't half enjoy this quiz.xx❤️

Well done to Marie.
A high word count today, so loads more for Our Mo and hopefully Vince will join in.

Lizzie, we had an interesting trip around All Saints last night.
The original church on the site was built in 1641, it was later rebuilt in the mid 1700’s.
It has an historically mixed past, changing different Christian religions over the years, finally being C of E.
It was ransacked during the English Civil War, and somewhere in the churchyard a Roundhead is buried.
When the cemetery on Castle Hill was made in the late 1800’s, burials were stopped at All Saints and all the graves were dug up.
In the 1960’s the gravestones were used as ballast for the motorway, a sad end really.
We went back to Tudor House (our meeting room) for tea and cakes after.

Thanks for our wordage and take care.

Lizzie, forgot to say that on Monday night we went to see the Springs Pit Memorial stone which is in the churchyard at All Saints.
It is in memory of the Springs Colliery disaster at Hindley Green the 26th November 1868, where 62 men and boys lost their lives, 42 of them were buried in All Saints churchyard.
Hindley History Society raised nearly £3000 towards the cost of erecting it.
It is a simple sandstone slab the size of a small gravestone.

The inscription reads a s follows:-

“To the glory of God and in memory of
those 62 men and boys who were
killed in the explosion at
Springs Colliery Hindley Green
On 26th November 1868
And of whom 42 are buried
In this churchyard”

Hello all..Ray ,I think the reason is I laugh so much at him..he really is a
treat, the more I laugh at him and his antics the more he does them, when
he's out on the grass near us,he keeps running round in rings, and as I say
the more I laugh the more he does it,he even looks like he's laughing..he's
a treat, and so intelligent too and clean.

If I can bore you all..while watching Rick Stein on his journeys a theme tune
kept playing and it's beautiful..to me anyway..through Google I eventually
found it..it's on " A Taste of Music Crocodile" It shows a chart and it's
number 10 titled 'Napoli'..I'm truly somewhere else when I hear it..but there's only a smidgen of it.

Lizzie, we would never interfere in our daughter's lifestyle, and our attitude is this, if we get Grandkids then fantastic, if we don't then that's good, they can enjoy life together with no encumbrances (that's a good word innit?).
Thanks as ever for our wordage.

A bright sunny start, but clouding over a bit while having my lunch, 23C forecast, with rain later in the afternoon.
A busy morning in the garden.
We are busy preparing for our holidays, next week.
We are up in Bonny Scotland, high up on the moors above the ferry port of Cairnryan.

This arvo walk round Rivvy and hope we can get it in before the rain comes.

Mo, I bet you have enjoyed this warm spell, it seems it’s turning a little unsettled and then next week warming up again.
