road signs
I was reading last week about the government doing away with what they class as road sign which are NOT requiredI am the opposite of this though I sometimes think there is not enough signage or road markings. Only last week there was an accident on a narrow bridge on Rainford road Billinge which has no signage/road marking at this point
Near Hindley Station there are Two stupid pinch points in the roadway neither of them are signed. If you know were they are you are in with a chance but if you do not know about them who gives way to who

Ladies lane at Hindley is a nightmare to drive either up or down, I can't see the point of those chicanes without priority signage, they just encourage nutters to push their way through.

You are spot on about Ladies Lane, all the chicanes do is encourage idiots to try to 'beat' the drivers on the opposite side of the road to get through.

Ladies Lane has been a nightmare for years, owing to those ridiculous chicanes. I'd love to hear what the council's reasoning was behind such dangerous nonsense. If it was to enable people to cross the road safely then why not have a Zebra Crossing there? If it was to discourage speeding then the opposite is true, as has been pointed out. People race to beat the one coming in the opposite direction. They had one further up too, on Hall Lane, but I seem to recall that at least had priority signage. But hey, what the heck? The roads in Hindley have always been badly organised. Just try to turn right at the Bird when you're coming from Wigan. Staggered lights would help.

About the same time as the pinch points were put in,there was a set of traffic lights put in near the golf course on Hall Lane, and soon after they had to be removed, because a lad had stolen a car,and went through on red and I think he was killed,I know the lad had pinched the car,but he didn't deserve that,on about road markings,Central Park Way going past Tesco should have double white lines,it's already had two very bad crashes, and still the lines haven't been changed.

It's Central Park Way spud1, you're right about the crashes on the blind bend, you see a lot of vehicles travelling along there at some speed, even in bad weather conditions too, I guess there'll be a lot more crashes before anything's done.
