What impact have they on people getting sufficient exercise?

Do they contribute: encouraging cyclists to do more?

Or, is their contribution negative: the battery and motor doing that which would otherwise engage muscular performance?

I wish I had one..I love biking but have C.O.P.D and can't pedal uphill now,
but would only use the electrics for uphill.
