We do not seem to make good use of them in England do we.

Recreation wise that is. Not a lot of Kenny Lynch style excursions 'Up on the Roof'

If I did not live where it is almost certain permission would never be granted, I think I would have a 'Widow's walk' perched up on my ridge.

I think the Lancashire Accent comment on the 'Wigan Accent' thread made me think of these, via this.

Beautiful voice had Kathleen Ferrier, I prefer a contralto to a screeching soprano any day of the week.
