Can Guillaume Tell, or has The thieving Magpie made off with the Fig Rolls?

The barber of Seville had the fig rolls, magpies pinch shiny stuff.

Just out of curiosity, I decided to Google the question, "What is the strangest thing that has been taken by a magpie?"

And, was surprised to learn that seemingly, it is a myth that they take shiny things, albeit one of long standing!

Magpies are attracted to shiny things, I think jackdaws are too. Last year my wife put an ornament in the bedroom window facing SE. The ornament had crysals embedded in it,so shiny! Three sunny mornings on the run we were woken to the sound of a magpie fluttering at the window trying to get at it. She moved the ornament to a window at the back of the house, facing NE, no more disturbance from magpies!

I do not know if they do or if they do not, but the researchers found by Google are of the opinion that they do not.

It seems the researchers need to do more research!

Will Charles be Charles lll or Carolus lll, that's if he ever makes it to the throne.

Evert year in September to October it is dangerous to walk in certain parts of Sydney. Magpies hatching their chicks will attack you as they think you will come for their eggs.
Very scary they do some damage , to people around the head and eyes

Hi Mollie, thread hijacking, I suppose it was really to be expected, never mind, oh never mind! Things not been too good here health wise, since last December been in hospital as an in-patient on a couple of occasions, will be at the Linacre Centre sometime next week to find out the results of some tests.

Hi Dave

I hate thread hijacking as well. It's very rude and unnecessary.

Sorry to hear you've been having health problems. Not been too brilliant meself over the last couple of years, but we keep going, one way or another.

If you fancy a chat, and you've still got my email address, drop me a line as I'd love to hear from you again. If you don't have my email address, please request it from Admin.

Better that than putting ourselves online for folk to comment about, eh? I'd love to chat with you again after all these years.

Dave, I have read that when Charles becomes King, he thinks the name Charles has too many negative issues and he is going to be George V11. I don't know how true it is.
