Are any of them worth eating (when they've been cooked of course )
I miss my old chip pan

McCain Triple cooked Gastro Chips from Iceland 3 packs £5 offer, you cook in oven in a dish not on a tray with holes in,so they are cooking in oil or fat so similar to chip pan chips

Do these small deep fat fryers, which I guess are safer, function as well as traditional chip pan?

I did buy one, but prior to using, received a diagnosis which excluded my ability to make use of it, so had to give it away unused on Freegle.

They do function as well Priscus, but have just acquired a Tower Air Fryer,
simply because I got fed up with keeping changing the oil and cleaning it.
I don't like the smell of oil anyway..this Air Fryer does a great job of cooking
Frozen chips..mainly Aunt Bessie's..three minutes warming up,then cook
for fifteen minutes..it's very good.
