O'Loughlin

Hunted by Leeds! Will he stay loyal to his home town club or go for the money ?

He should stay, like 'Wee' Sam did...

Oh, I forgot, Sam's jumped ship again. And he had such a brilliant game on Saturday night.

Shame.

Like all the other superstars Wigan have sold over the years they'll be replaced best of luck to Sam and all the others and if Oloughlin decides to go good luck to him been a great servant to Wigan and the great game of rugby league

very true handsomeminer, I agreewith all you say -- but I hope he doesn't go. isn'y he promised some caching role at Wigan when he stops playing? How would that work out if he goes?

He could go to Leeds to wait his turn for the Wigan coaching job after Adrian Lam and Shaun Edwards. Unless of course Andy Farrell is also in the queue

sick note should go, to make way for the up and coming.

Sick note has it written into his contract that he will become part of the coaching staff at Wigan when he hangs up his boots But it does not say he will be head coach

O'Loughlin's body has taken a battering over the years.I daresaya lot of absences are from recurring injuries. "Sicknote" implies he's a sciver - and we've all worked with them. he's a great captain!

Kath it was mentioned on the telly over the week end that he had only played 16 games this seasonSo that is why he has got the title "sick note" And if he is that knackered is it not time to hang up his boots and use his skills to teach younger players instead of playing for another season

you're probably right Peter P. I didn't think he'd still be ere for the last season to be honest. Anyway he says he's staying but hasn't actually signed yet. Leeds need a good captain and that is Lockers' strength. Maybe he's still working on his coaching qualifications.I think nextseason will be his last

cant blame him for wanting to continue, your retired a long time and his family will miss his income .i dont believe an assistant coach will be on players wages.but if we look at the old liverpool way, players where ousted early to make way for continuous success on the field.
no doubt the management where sorry to see great players go,but they always looked to the future.

Just a reminder that the gent in question is captain of his country tomorrow. Another interesting point is everyone says they should sign half backs and Wigan are supplying the England half backs tomorrow.

you are right baker boy - it's a short career and a long retirement unless you have planned wisely/
borady - good to see so many Wigan players in today's game. I saw sam was still quoted as Wigan on facebook . I suppose he's in limbo really till next season. I hope they do well !

Broady...shows how much the game needs half backs

When you and others have been shouting for Wigan to sign half backs I have continually said can you name any they should go after. This proves my point. No top Aussie will come to the UK because the salary cap is higher over there.

salary cap or not, wigans half backs need strengthening.

So are you saying ignore the salary cap?? Could be repercussions if they do that. If there were no salary cap I don’t think there are any good half backs in the UK.

PeterP,
I see he is a major doubt for next weekend.

idid not mean ignore the salary cap, though i feel players wages need to rise.i was meaning the wigan half backs are not astute enough to break down opposing defences on more han the odd occasion.williams standard attacking tactic is the lobbed kick to the corner .no imagination.

I totally agree with you but Williams is the current England stand off so one assumes the best currently. As for raising the salary cap Wigan lost money last year with the current cap so where does the money come from if it is raised. Over the years we have seen a succession of loose forwards wear the number 6 for England. From memory, Powell, Farrell, Sculthorpe, Sinfield and O’Loughlin. This would suggest it has been a problem for a number of years.

I see he's signed a new deal for next season with a view to moving into a coaching role.

I think Williams should develop more to his game...his kicking game on the 6th tackle is missing...only reasonable kicking near the try line...we are going to need someone for next season with a kicking game now that Tompkins has gone

Williams is not international standard ,they should try Connor or Ratchford there

Try!!!! This is test match rugby not a kick about on Marsh Playing fields. I don’t think either play there for their clubs. No half backs in British RL. Any news on Leyth for next season?

fraid not broady I've been this morning to pay a tenner Leigh Lotto money and they said "We've put some Christmas draw tickets out for you will you try to sell a few "Course I said give us ten books, I notice that second prize is a 2019 Season ticket and third prize is next season's playing shirt ,so it may be positive ,although a couple more players have left, the silence is deafening,

I know that connor wants to play at half back for his club so he must have played there before ,Williams was ineffective there last week
