I don't think Pogba is a donkey, but he has not shown up well under Mourinho.perhaps the self styled great maestro manager is not so hot after all.

Interesting.

Most expensive Premier League players taking into account inflation (in other words, their true initial cost in today's money).

And I thought it was City who ruined football.

Shevchenko (AC Milan - Chelsea) 144.4m
Shearer (Blackburn - Newcastle) 125.1m
Ferdinand (Leeds - Man United) 121.7m
Pogba (Juventus - Man United) 117.7m
Veron (Lazio - Man United) 115.9m
Drogba (Marseilles - Chelsea) 115.7m
Torres (Liverpool - Chelsea) 115.5m
Essien (Lyon - Chelsea) 115.5m
Keane (Nottm Forest -Man United) 111.2m
Rooney (Everton - Man United) 103.6m

0 years just come on here to post the same..
THE MYTH OF BUYING THE LEAGUE the top 50 is littered with trafford players i wonder if it will tempt soft boy chatty from under his rock

0 years/ LG

This thread has suddenly become very interesting. My thanks to you both for posting what are very startling statistics.

Posted by: chatty (6220)  Report abuse
FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY!!
Some hard factual evidence to shut 0 years and his "Index linked" spending myth to bed!
I do believe you have put your puppet masters nose out of joint there by giving us a link to the full picture lg.
I can fully understand now why 0 years would only come along with half a tale and be reticent about giving us the full facts

The chart showing how much has been spent by clubs taking prices into inflation shows us that while United have spent nearly half as much as City and Liverpool put together they have actually won nearly twice as many trophies as both of them put together!
Infact United have only spent 160 Million more than City in the Premier League era whilst winning 3 times as much.
I also presume those spending figures are Gross, which would mean the 800% mark up we made when we sold Ronaldo to Madrid and the such like are not even taken into consideration making Uniteds achievments even better!
So far from buying trophies we have spent our money much more wisely than any of the clubs!

As for your list 0 years, 3 of the 5 United players in it have all won Champions Leagues, World Club trophies, and Three League titles on the bounce for United (no City player has done any of that) so can be considered as money well spent.
Veron we palmed off to Chelsea for half the fee we payed for him so the Indexed linked cost of him can be at least halved.
And the last player Pogba has not finished playing for us yet so we don't know his true worth to the club so far but in two seasons he as already helped us win as many European trophies has City have in their history!

Think I'll pop back under my "rock! now.

and as if by magic..

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK.
After years of posting childish and bobbins material you've finally come up with an absolutely fantastic myth busting link!

The more I study it the better it reads.
Far from United "buying trophies" it shows they are the most prudent club in the history of the League.
They have payed less per trophy than ANY CLUB that has ever graced the Premier League!

lg the gift that keeps on giving, keep up the good work lad

LG and o years knocked down once again with a very smart reply from chatty, seems they don't understand the real facts.

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse
chatty wants real facts eh, ask him which team has broke the transfare record the most times in england? no they dont buy the league do they chatty?

Posted by: Tiger cat (89) Report abuse
Only one team can be classed has buying the league and that's city, over the last twelve months chatty and a few others on here have proved it time and again so your wasting your time with silly posts.

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse
who paid 90 million for a midfield donkey? that facts for you

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse
which premier league manager has spent the most money? thats facts for you

WONDERFUL!!

Chatty, well and truly smoked out of his sulky pit along with his sycophantic nodding dogs.

You must be on the sauce Chatty as the LG post echoed exactly what I posted.

As for your ridiculous counter argument that it was justified spending, as most of the players in the list had won trophies, you might want to look at the same list in around ten years time as it will no doubt show that United had once again splurged the most but this time with sod all to show for it.

BTW, the list showed the index linked effect on specific transfer fees NOT a trophy count...simple to understand is it NOT? If however you want to deflect from the simple truth as usual then fill your boots. Everyone apart from the most blinkered can see through your silly games.

Anyway, I must dash as I have a beach to lie on whilst it is the international break. I plan my short breaks around going to games to watch THE CHAMPIONS you see, something we all know is alien to you on both counts. I am back in a couple of days but will nip back in here now and again to see LG rip your arguments to pieces and watch the subsequent wriggling.

Posted by: chatty (6220)  Report abuse
..you might want to look at the same list in around ten years time..

You brought the subject up, maybe you should have waited ten years before posting the list then?
I was never going to let the chance pass to blow your "index link" spending myth out of the water once and for all!

.. the list showed the index linked effect on specific transfer fees NOT a trophy count...simple to understand is it NOT?

laughingstocks title to his link was.."THE MYTH OF BUYING THE LEAGUE"
(and you've since stated; "the LG post echoed exactly what I posted")
So sorry pal but it was all about things won.

Enjoy your "lie on the beach," hope it doesn't last as long as City's quest for a European trophy though, that would be ridiculous!

If this was a boxing match chatty the ref would have stopped it before now.

He is so easy to hit he gets mad when you miss him.

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse
lets see if chatty answers this

which trafford player was well known for beating his wife?
and why does chatty worship a wife beater?

punch drunk chatty has NEVER proven me wrong on anything i've said about trafford FACT.

You can start by showing us where I've stated I "worshipped" anyone?

An 8 year old lad who liked George Best the footballer?
You can drop your feigned disgust, you've shown us too many times what a nasty piece of work you are!

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse
could someone please confirm chatty has typed GEORGE BEST in his above post thanks

Posted by: chatty (6220)  Report abuse

I think you've just confirmed(once again)you don't have me on "ignore"

You've referred to George Best previously as a "wife beater" so there was no confussion about who you meant.

You just need to show me where I have said I "worshipped" him or your above post about "NEVER being proved wrong on anything i've said about trafford" will be erm.........PROVED WRONG!!!

Posted by: chatty (6220)  Report abuse

Struggling then?

There's no 'old photo in the Post and Chronicle about it' is there.

Posted by: Tiger cat (89) Report abuse
A perfect example of an idiot, LG.

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse

NOT MUCH FAITH IN THE BIGGEST TEAM IN THE WORLD HAVE THEY TIGER?

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse
ALSO TIGER THEY BOTH OWE ME MONEY FOR PAST BETS!! THATS TWO PLASTICS THAT WILL BE FOREVER IN DEBT TO ME

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse
BWHAHAHAHA JUST AS I THOWT NOT A BULLOCK BETWEEN UM YET THEY COME ON HERE SPOUTING CRAP ABOUT BOXING MATCHES AND CHUCKING TOWELS IN!! I'VE NEVER CHUCKED A TOWEL IN IN MY LIFE PLASTICS..

Posted by: chatty (6220)  Report abuse
What a clown, United widely available at 40-1 to win the League at present and he's expecting people to have an even money bet with him, now he may well have the 80 Grand in cash to cover the two bets he's offered but I somehow doubt it!

Posted by: 0 years (3033) Report abuse
Do keep up Chatty and try to stay on topic. It's pointless drifting off in the blind hope that the original point will be forgotten. However we are all aware that this is a tactic you employ repeatedly.

I posted a list of INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS whose ridiculous INDIVIDUAL fees when INDEXED up including seasonal averages shows that those INDIVIDUAL fees had inflated the transfer market and contributed to the transfer market which we see today.

Because you had no answer to the statistics you changed the thread to one discussing collective transfer fees over a specific time. Nice try but no cigar.

As for blowing my indexation theory out of the water, it is apparent that you have no understanding of said process otherwise you wouldn't have made such a nonsensical statement. "Football inflation" is also a factor instigated and fuelled by clubs with the most money in a bid to snatch the best players as displayed in the list.

Finally, Grimshaw and Tiger cat, now where do I start with you lads? Don't you realise how cringingly embarrassing your sycophantic uninformed rhetoric appears everytime Chatty goes off at a misguided tangent? It just proves that you dont really understand what is being discussed. Best leave it to the better qualified eh.

Posted by: chatty (6220)  Report abuse
Why would I have "no answer to the statistics"
What was the question?
laughing stock posted a link with the title, THE MYTH OF BUYING THE LEAGUE.
You've already posted: the LG post echoed exactly what I posted.
SO all I did was show that whoever bought what, United got it cheaper than anyone else.

For years I've pointed out that City had spent more than United in the Premier League era, your only response to that correct fact was: "INDEX LINKED....INDEX LINKED.. show us the figures INDEX LINKED with inflation taken into account"
A table of the figures finally turn up (thanks for inadvertently posting them by the way) and I point out some interesting facts, I haven't gone off at any "misguided tangent" all I've done is point to the statistics you've been asking for, for years!

Posted by: Tiger cat (89) Report abuse
O years, what was your job before retirement, I'd guess a school teacher or some kind of manager over people, it's the way you try to talk down to people on here, many times.

Posted by: grimshaw (1287)  Report abuse
Tiger cat ,spot on .

The clever one, or at least he thinks he is ,will doubtless accuse me of sycophancy if he finds time from polishing is ego..

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse

What is it yoonited fans used to say TC/Grim (when they were any good that is)?

"Not arrogant....just better".

Posted by: grimshaw (1287)  Report abuse
Who said he would be happy with a champions league semi final place ?
Not the final .but the semis .not much faith in the allegedly big club.

Shoudnt expect anything more from the bitters.

Mind you i shoudnt really criticise given their pathetic european record which will no doubt remain after this season.

Posted by: laughing gravy (3951) Report abuse
bwahahaha not saying anything about jsoe finishing 2nd and claiming it was one his best thing hes done then?

Posted by: 0 years (3033) Report abuse
What on earth are you prattling on about Grim?

Nonsense as usual.

I, along with most real football fans, would be perfectly happy with a Champions League semi final. In fact it's not that long ago I, along with most real football fans, would have been skipping with a League cup semi final.

The difference is that unlike yoonited fans I do not have a self entitled arrogant (albeit deluded and historical) expectation.

Not arrogant you see.....just better!
