have just beaten Dog and Duck and 3 clowns and Hermann the German are waxing lyrical about the overpaid set of mediocrity. It's like watching Joses United, absolute garbage and Southgate will steal more money for producing rubbish football

Posted by: roylew (2782) Report abuse
Oh dear....have to admit though it was like watching Ipswich v hull city...well take a World Cup semi though.....sterlingís legs are too quick for his brain

Posted by: upthetims (6497) Report abuse

What brain!!!!!!!

Posted by: laughing gravy (3647) Report abuse
bwhahahahahah a united fan calling teams for playing boring football.. YOU CAN NOT MAKE IT UP. HOOF IT UP TO FELLAINI

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
What it does show, to me at least, is how good De Bruyne, Silva etc. are at City as between them they have sent Sterling to the World Cup. At best he is average but when surrounded by the stars at City he seems half decent.

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
Its the favourite pastime of english sport fans .

Knock the team or individual irrespective of whats been achieved .

I recall when golfer Nick Faldo Was winning majors for fun and beating the best in the world he was criticised for boring play especially when he shot 18 straight pars in the final round to win the Open at Muirfield .

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
So you think this is a good team that you would willingly buy a season ticket to watch. With all due respect I am giving an opinion and not knocking the team. How many world class players in the team today. Kane at best and how many touches did he have against a run of the mill team? Would you put Henderson, Sterling or Stones in the United team??

Posted by: 1934granadascruggs (1166)  Report abuse
Lets not get carried away with todays result.
Up to now their opposition has been weak apart from Belgium whom they lost to.

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
Not getting carried away in the slightest.
Just saying that you can only beat those that are put in front of you and credit the team for doing that at least.

It was patently obvious today that we lack craft in midfield which will most likely come to haunt us when the chips are down.

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
I hate to appear negative and fervently hope they do win the cup but something tells me they won't. Look at Belgium with De Bruyne and Hazard in the team. Different class.

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
You will most likely be spot on .

All i am saying is lets give some credit to England for at least going a lot further than most fans thought they would.

Its a funny old game and its never over until the fat lady sings

Posted by: 1934granadascruggs (1166)  Report abuse
If they play the winners of this match that I am watching they should reach the final at least!

No excuses. They can't have a better chance than this given the draw they have had

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
I concur .

Watch Croatia get Modric right up the pitch in second half.

He is a terrific player and Croatias big big hope .

Posted by: 1934granadascruggs (1166)  Report abuse
I think it will go to extra time and maybe penalties.

However, It's launched off my tv at 9.30 as I want to be entertained!
Toronto Wolfpack v Sheffield Eagles

Posted by: whups (2880)  Report abuse
we went there with an unfancied team & an unfancied manager who were only expected to get out of the group . give them some respect . after all the germans & brazil had the same opportunity & blew it .what r u going to say if they win it ? .grim is right , build them up to knock them down . pathetic.

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
WHUPS .

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
So speaks Whups the font of all football knowledge. Would you buy a season ticket to watch them? How many would you like to see in the United team?

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
With respect you miss the point broady.

Seems to me that if we had got stuffed by the Swedes you and other folk would have been dancing in the streets.

Does not matter one jot who would or would not fit into the Utd team.

Just give the English team credit for making the semis.

spot on

Tony j.

Posted by: jarvo (28268)  Report abuse
If we play Belgium in the World Cup final, it will be a highly charged PL match.

We have a great chance.

Give this young team some credit.

Not many teams could have beaten Columbia in the circumstances. FACT.

Come on, England!

Get behind um, yer soft buggers!

Posted by: whups (2880)  Report abuse
what do you care broady . canada arnt in it are they so you,ve nothing to say .

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
I expected that usual claptrap. If someone says ď I fervently hope they win the cupĒ why should they be dancing in the street if they lose?

Posted by: tony j (662)  Report abuse
i, for one, didn't think we would get this far, i don't think many had great expectations. the team seems to have gelled the longer it's gone on. it's not englands fault that germany, argentina, spain and uruguay have gone, so it dosen't wash with me that they have had it easy. i agree with jarvo, if we do manage to get through and meet belgium, it will be a top of the table premier league clash, and as people know, difficult to predict, so come on get behind them, and enjoy !!

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
You clearly are not a stranger to claptrap judging by the way you bring Utd into it and talk about season tickets etc etc as though that has anything to do with England.

Well said jarvo and tony j.

Posted by: whups (2880)  Report abuse
it,s not claptrap when it,s the truth is it.and these so-called teams have no god given right to win anything. that,s why you buggered off to canada because you cant even back your country of origin.

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
It is called the World Cup not the Downall Green shield. By your usual cock eyed thinking no one from Wales, Scotland or Ireland should even discuss it. Try reading the threads and then say I havenít said I hope they win it.

Posted by: laughing gravy (3647) Report abuse
all the plastic england fans on here were shouting for real madrid tother month BLOODY HYPOCTRITES ONE AND ALL

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
You twist your own words around broady

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
How do I did that? I said I ď fervently hope they win itĒ However that doesnít change my opinion that they have some very average players in the team. At the end of the game, irrespective of the result, I donít feel I have watched a good game. Because of the nature of other results they have just beaten the 24th FIFA ranked team in the world in the quarter final and now play the 20th FIFA ranked team in the world in the semis. That is the nature of knockout football but even if they win it I still wonít view most of the side as world class. Sorry if my opinion doesnít coincide with others and where I live in the world has nothing to do with my opinion.

Posted by: PeterP (6436) Report abuse
Where's Jarvo to defend the football supporters who thought it was funny to wreck cars and bus shelters and also a rapid response ambulance. God help us if England lose

Posted by: tony j (662)  Report abuse
broady, the so called better sides had "world class players" but still got knocked out. in my opinion they had average players who relied on the class players to get them through, didn't play as a team that's why they went. in my opinion, england may not have the best players, but they play as a team, every one of them tries their best, if it's not good enough to win it , so be it. this england team was written off before they went, i'm including myself in that, but what i have seen is a revelation. there are no prima donnas like we've had in the past, just a squad of genuine players who pull their tripe out for one another. i can't speak for anyone else, but if your team gives 100% and gets beat i would be sad,but at the same time be proud because they gave everything, you can't ask for anymore than that. cmon england.

Posted by: jarvo (28268)  Report abuse
I DO NOT defend any hooligans, whether they are football or rugby.

We can do without these assholes in all walks of life.

Posted by: tony j (662)  Report abuse
i concur jarvo

Posted by: blackrodweaver (510) Report abuse
Can only happen on here moaning because they are in the semi's unbelievable.

I for one think the've done superb to get this far. Give credit were it due.

Any bodies Cup this time ..lets hope its ours

Posted by: baker boy (13908) Report abuse
broady if the number one team in the world won the world cup every time, whats the point of the competition.
i admit england have beaten no one of major status ,but we are beating most of the teams put in front of us.
england are certs to beat croatia, belgium on the other hand are a different proposition, but hey who knows .

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
Spot on jarvo and tony j and blackrod.

Its a trait of the English.

Build up.knock down.

It happens in all sports

Your a mashed swede broady.

My curiosity has got the better of me .
When did you last attend a live P L game and how many times have you attended games in europe.?

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
Time for insults eh. If you paid attention I am a self confessed rugby fan. Iíll talk silly and say I fly across for a game every week. I too am curious and wonder if you are going to ask everyone who posts on here the same question? Just to answer your question I have been to scores of games in Europe as the last time I checked the UK was part of Europe.

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse

Jarvo, Washed up?? If all else fails I shall turn to writing poetry. I read an article this weekend that compared to goalie to Banks and another comparing McGuire to Bobby Moore. I think lots of peoples judgements are being clouded.

yes he,s a bit of a "wide boy" isnt he grim.all he needed to do was show some respect for the england team & he could,nt do that .

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
Whups, Try and make a sentence up correctly and stop talking about doing a runner. I would certainly done a runner from a job where a typist got more for sitting in Anderson House than I did for going down the pit, thatís for sure.

Grimshaw, What was your question? Was it the one about attending games? When you ask all the people on here the same I will of course answer.

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
Whups, Talk to me and not keep running to someone else. Donít talk about respec. What has respect got to do with giving an opinion of a football side. Suggest you look at your comments about Liverpool before you mention the word respect.

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
Fudging again broady .

I have no reason to ask most folks on here ,they support the National team UNLIKE others who merely .

Just say when was the last time you attended a P L game live or C L game live in this country or abroad .

Is that simple enough for you to understand.

Ball in your court .

Posted by: grimshaw (1072)  Report abuse
It is nothing less than pathetic to read folks moaning and goaning about England .

We are in the semis of the bloody world cup for heavens sake .
Just enjoy that fact instead of decrying the team.
They may not be the most thrilling side but they do play as a team and thats something i havnt seen much of since Sir Bobby Robson was manager AND a million miles away from the Hoddle years .

So stop the griping and back the team .

Posted by: blackrodweaver (510) Report abuse
Grimy had 4 £2 bets on result and to score any time

stones 2-1 100/1 stones 3-1 150/1
sterling 2-1 25/1 sterling 3-1 50/1

whats your dabble

How many world class players did we have in 1966. There is no I in TEAM.
Seems like we have a bunch of over-rated, underachievers, overachieving.
Also seems like itís Pi^~ing some people off. Hope they win it, but even if they donít I think they can come home with their heads held high.

Posted by: broady (13345)   Report abuse
Whups, Get a life. My opinion regarding the current England team is nothing to do with respect. What type of twisted thought can bring the tragedy at Heysel into the conversation about the current England team??

Posted by: whups (2880)  Report abuse
you get a life. you brought liverpool into it didnt you. grim is right about you & you cant hack it but i suppose we cant expect anything else from someone who gave up his country for another & yes you did indeed do a runner.
