The Flying Pig...

R.I.P. Tommy Lawrence.

Sad day.

He once flattened Wolves' Paul Walker at Anfield late in the second half of well earned 0-0 draw.

The ref let it go. Typical of the time.

But he was a much underrated goalkeeper.

I remember a clip a couple of years ago where a TV reporter was in Liverpool and interviewing people and asking their memories of a certain derby game and purely by chance he stopped Tommy who was walking by and asked him if he remembered anything about that derby and he replied " Yes, I was in goal for Liverpool" R.I.P.

It is on the BBC website Mortarbill. What a humble man he seemed to be on that clip.
