tonights televised referee.

did warrington have 14 men on the field.i dont know the refs name but my was he one sided.every catalan tackle on the shoulder was deemed high and penalised and in the 2nd half he got worse.
a clear warrington head shot on gigot went unpunished and the next play was a warrington ball steal that he knocked on,was given as a loose carry scrum down warrington feed.at best the ref was hapless at worst incompetent.
the tie then descended into farce when charnley's attempt at decapitation got nowt but a penalty. not even a word from the ref and a sin bin for a mild knee in the buttocks from the catalan forward.
having said all that about the ref ,the game was entertaining.
when that well known commentator spoke these words, the weather in the second half got slightly worse, our table at the pub got the best laugh of the night.
good friends, a pint or two and rugby league on the box ,cheers.

It was Ben Thaler who is regarded as one of the top if not the top British referee. Before long anything on the chest will be classified as head high. Some of those penalised hardly get above the chin. ( yes I know the chin is part of the head)

it says a lot about the present day Referee's that without doubt Thaler is the best of a very bad bunch, there are some terrible ones namely,Kendall, Moore, Hicks, and Child, but beyond any doubt at all the worst of the lot is Wiggin Whistler Smith ,should have stayed in the forces

‘’but beyond any doubt at all the worst of the lot is Wiggin Whistler Smith ,should have stayed in the forces’’

You imbecile peawapp

Should have stayed in the forces?

‘’He was shot by a Taliban sniper while serving in Afghanistan on 21 August, 2010. The bullet passed through his lower back, breaking ribs, hitting his liver, gall bladder, spleen, diaphragm and right lung before exiting his upper chest.
He was airlifted back to England in a coma and woke up two weeks later. It took two years of rehabilitation for Smith to recover from his horrific injuries and he was discharged from the Marines on medical grounds’’

Worst ref?.......He stepped down as a full-time match official over twelve months ago

obviously I wasn't aware of all this ,and so I apologise for my post, He's had it tough no doubt, but that said he was still a useless referee
and furthermore to call me an imbecile is unacceptable so having apologised for my post, so I now await yours I wont hold my breath

i can sympathise with what he has suffered, however i am on about last night's whistle blower who was poor to say the least.

Since the game has gone to summertime it’s changed so much and speeded up...refs can’t keep up with the game anymore...perhaps we need 2 or will that cause twice the problem...also players cheat more in trying to get penalties etc...

Roylew,
They have had two referees in Australian RL for about nine years. I think one is the main referee and the other watches certain aspects of the game.

watched the leeds v wakefield game another poor ref.
two incident's stick in the memory a leeds forward strips the ball from the wakefield forward with two tacklers in attendance and rules it a loose carry, second he gave leeds a penalty for the wakefield player pushing the leeds player away at the play of the ball right under the leeds stick.not only did we not see a push ,but hell how many pushes and shoves are there in a game from the tackled player, resulting in a leeds relieving penalty ,how very fortunate for leeds . another poor ref ,do RLHQ actually monitor refs.
