If you stick a tenner on one of your football fancies grimshaw (£5ew if you like) with Willian Hill they will give you a £5 free bet everytime your selections wins a game, bang that on one of your other fancies each time and if you don't come out on top, pack in betting altogether.

Jarvo, Alliss won the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese Opens in the space of 3 weeks in 1958, tied 8th in the Open Championship four times, represented England 10 times in the World Cup of Golf, and played in 8 Ryder Cup teams.
Tell us again what you've won?

I didn't see the Spain game last night, after the first game they looked as good as anyone.
No one's really clicked as mentioned (bar Russia who have preformed better than their form suggested coming into the tournament, the home nation usually does)
I backed France at the start, and Greizmann for top goalscorer, when either comes good I get a free bet, so just covering my ass with those!
Belgium, some great players, but does anyone ever think they'll ever hear the phrase, here comes "World Cup winning manager Roberto Martinez"?
England's chance as good as anyone at this moment in time, but you could say the same about Southgate.
As they say "It's the hope that kills you"

I know 'Fergie time' became a popular saying not long after
Richard Keys and Andy Gray reinvented football in the early 90s, but 'never write the Germans off' was very well known way before that when their club and national teams always seemed to pop up with a late winner/ equaliser.

The fact he has me one "ignore"(yea right)and he may have missed my numerous attempts to pay the vast amount I don't actually owe him hasn't dawned on him yet, but that's what happens when you start lying, you end up tying yourself in knots!

Go away Broady, don't you mean I tipped Croatia as dark horses then half a day later you sub conciously picked them after reading my post.

I also stated I had backed France at the start to win it, Portugal would fall to Uruguay, Spain might inch past Russia but they aren't good enough to win it,(they didn't even manage that) and that Martinez and Southgate didn't sound like World Cup winning managers names

chatty,
The reason I picked Uruguay and Croatia was at the end of the group stages they were the only ones with a 100% record. Sadly not connected to your selection. When grimshaw says 100% certain to win I, as a rugby fan, have only two words to say. Sheffield Eagles. I think Wigan were 1/14. The only certainty is England won't win. They beat Panama (55th) Tunisia (21st) lost to Belgium(3rd) and lost to Croatia(20th) I thought the goalie did well as did Trippier. Kane disappointed and IMO the rest were average. Hopefully we have seen the last of Young in an England shirt. The figures in brackets are the FIFA ranking of June 2018. I think France are 7th. I am not really bothered who wins but hope it is a good game. Mbappe may be the match winner. These views have nothing to do with my place of residence BTW.

I repeat .

France are certainties.

The excellent Modric controlled the pace of the game this evening in the second half AND was deployed further up the pitch but sunday will be a different kettle of fish .

Pogba will have a huge opportunity to influence the game given how the french play

Unlike broady i am bothered who wins given i have France to win me a good few quid .

When I say I am not bothered who wins I mean from a neutral football point of view not with regards to someone winning a bet. I hope the gent in question wins his bet. I have just looked at the odds and Croatia are at tops 4/1 which doesn't suggest the bookies think it is as one sided as Mr. Grimshaw thinks.

I do take your point that nowt in life is certain.

I recall years ago when 4 pals and myself got a class greyhound from Ireland.

Trialed him in at a flap track in the north east .Drove up there 3 times.he was well held to get him on a good mark and bet him off the boards in his race .the poke was down and 3 lengths clear off the last bend when
the lure cable snapped and came to a juddering halt ,or so the track said when they voided the race

Cue long faces in the car on the long drive home.

Come on the French
