will the Latics stay up
Started by: aussie94 (2300) Report abuse
Or are the new owners as tight as they come

Posted by: tony j (743)  Report abuse
yes they will, no they're not.

Posted by: i-spy (14443)  Report abuse
agree with tony j's first point, not sure about the second. It depends which rumour you choose to believe.

Posted by: roundy (175) Report abuse
yeah they will stay up just. i do think the owners are probably tighter than a pair of bullfighters underpants though.

Posted by: trevwafc (1489)  Report abuse
Yeah they are tight paying 1 million a month just to pay the bills money spent on the infrastructure money spent on transfers ( 2 million on Robinson) and more to come yeah they are tight get your facts right before you spout off come on you tics

Posted by: fossil (6674) Report abuse
Yes I agree with Trev and Tony . No sign that they are tight in fact not many clubs in the championship have spent anything apart from Notts Forest and the clubs in receipt of parachute payments.
Early doors but confident that the new owners will do their business in a sensible manner !

We live in hope

How are the Latics going pre season matches

Posted by: bluesfan (1559)  Report abuse
So so aussie94 but you know pre season games are just about getting fit and looking at squad players. Wigan Athletic are a small fish amongst some big clubs just finishing mid table would be an achievement

Posted by: fossil (6674) Report abuse
Well six new players in,apart from the goalkeeper all young and seemingly what the manager wanted. Looks like the new owners are in it for the long run and good luck to them.Looking forward to the new season👍

Posted by: tony j (743)  Report abuse
i too bill, looking forward, all young and energetic players with something to prove, looking good.

Posted by: roylew (3107) Report abuse
Just stay up...thatíll do...and Huddersfield as well

Posted by: aussie94 (2300) Report abuse
encouraging news Go latics

Posted by: aussie94 (2300) Report abuse
seems they have spent a quid

Posted by: aussie94 (2300) Report abuse
Or is it money saved from players they let go?

Posted by: basil brush (12740) Report abuse
I am starting to worry, now, 5 straight defeats

Posted by: 0 years (3603) Report abuse
I hope they recover to stay up (but not to get promoted as they always beat City ).

Just off at a tangent a little, I was walking around Homebase in Warwick on Friday (don't ask), when I came across a young lad (in a Latics shirt) who, with his dad, are Latics season ticket holders.

They get everywhere do these Latics fans!

Posted by: aussie94 (2300) Report abuse
Not looking good a terrible start. I hope the match against Barnsley starts a turn around. On a different note I am so sad to see the demise of Bolton and Bury. Great Lancashire Clubs. Football League hang your heads in shame to allow these great clubs to sink to this . A disgrace

Posted by: PeterP (7254) Report abuse
Aussie this is only the start of football clubs folding wait till it starts in the premier division

Posted by: baker boy (15046) Report abuse
My mate says the golden goose that is the premier league would die very quickly without sky etc cash.

Posted by: aussie94 (2300) Report abuse
I agree , but the money they spend on players is stupid . no footballer is worth the amounts they are paid today

Posted by: basil brush (12740) Report abuse
It doesn't look like our owners are spending out

Posted by: baker boy (15046) Report abuse
money as to be spent in a sensible manner otherwise its another bury and bolton.

Posted by: basil brush (12740) Report abuse

Wish Sky would go to the wall, and then 350 grand a week overpaid footballers would have to wake up in a realistic world.Bang average players like Lindgaard get more than 100k a week, absolute joke.No sportsmen anymore, just greedy bastards and this applies to every so called popular sport

Posted by: baker boy (15046) Report abuse
SADLY ,PROBABLY TRUE.
