an old Friend of mine former Wigan player Ronnie Hurst passed away this week ,Ronnie played on the wing for Wigan in the famous Macdonald bailey match in 1953 when the former Olympic Champion made his one and only appearance for Leigh and scored a try ,I once asked Ronnie what was it like tackling Macdonald Bailey and Ronnie said " it was strange when you got hold of him he would sort of go all limp and curl up into a ball and not struggle at all a bit like tackling a woman he would say "( obviously Ronnie hadn't encountered the same Females as me back in the day )I did remind him that he scored a try on the wing against him, but he said Brian fallon was already over thr try line when he passed him the ball all he had to do was catch it ,good Man was Ronnie rest in peace Pal
