Warrington v Toronto
Started by: kathpressey (4428)  Report abuse
is this worth watching on TV ? is it on for novelty value? wouldn't Wigan V HKR been a more equal and entertaining game? or can Toronto pull off a mega surprise? [Hope so}

Just remind me how Leigh went on against Toronto on the 4th February!!

Bad advert for rugby league some players should have been sin binned earlier in the 1st half never mind in the 2nd half with one red and two yellows

Posted by: broady (13143)   Report abuse
PeterP,
Toronto are packed with ex Leigh personnel so maybe it could have been expected. We all remember when they used to have a mini bus to the Disciplinary meeting every week.

Broady still a bad tempered match and the ref should have stopped it sooner than later

Leigh lost 32- 26 ,as you well know ,but it was a brand new Leigh team and they have since gelled as a team, Toronto today were an absolute disgrace to the game, hopefully some big bans on the way for them, Rugby league today was actually shown up to the world on the B.B.C. ,thugs is the word for them ,and also I underestimated the actual final difference in the score (but not by much) the game will never take off in that Country get em kicked out ,I notice that they never went back to that bloody Pub in Canada when they started getting hammered did they , what a bloody joke

Very bad advert, donít mind it being played hard with needle in the game, but that was ridiculous, the game needs healthy competition, but donít know how it can be found. We have been going backwards for years unfortunately

Posted by: broady (13143)   Report abuse
It was on a pay channel over here and I didnít feel inclined to pay plus it clashed with United. Will catch is somewhere no doubt. Peawapp it says 34-12 on the Leigh website.

Just read a couple of match reports as it does seem as though the game was a touch feisty!!!

Posted by: kathpressey (4428)  Report abuse
the first half was ok bhut it all went downhill. I only kept it on because I wanted to see the draw for the next round. Warrington--ooooh!!!

Posted by: peawapp (4912)  Report abuse
yes your right broady it was 34-12 ,my memories going, but as I said it was a brand new Leigh team and they hadn't played together only in two friendlies ,this morning I have been speaking to the one and only A J Murphy ,who agree's with me that it was a disgrace and he said Thaler should have said to both teams "Team warning now ,next episode and the match is over ,toronto bring nothing to the sport, and I did like Charnley taking the Mick out of them near the end ,showboating for his try

Posted by: PeterP (6350) Report abuse
Kath Wigan will have to up their game plan otherwise Warrington will easily beat them

Posted by: kathpressey (4428)  Report abuse
peter p , it will be a tough game but I am confident Wigan can win. Charnley is good though but we still have Sam to nip around them and Clubb to bash his way though - he's getting some good tries this year.

I found this difficult to watch, but class told in the end.

Toronto?

Why can't they let the Yorkshire and Cumbrian clubs back?

The official CC draw at the end was like something out of the old West Ward games room.

RL...get your act together.

Posted by: kathpressey (4428)  Report abuse
jarvo I wonder about Toronto myself. How do they expect fans to go over there to see games? no doubt it's all down to the amount of money they can chuck into the game.

Posted by: jarvo (28087)  Report abuse
Kath: It doesn't make any business sense whatsoever.

Let the buggers stick to ice hockey and storing timber in Quebec...Oh, and take that old skinhead Broady back with you...Thanks.

Bring back Featherstone Rovers and Batley!

kath money greases the wheels of all sporting organisations, none more than sl.

Posted by: broady (13143)   Report abuse
Did Featherstone not lose to Hull in the same competition at the weekend.

Note to Jarvo. The much maligned ( by you especially) Gareth Hock currently plays for Featherstone.

IToronto were doing well at the beginning but the Referee was far too hasty with his whistle . The same with the Hull FC match and another made up three terrible displays of controlling a game. Too many Cards, Yellow and Red..

Posted by: kathpressey (4428)  Report abuse
baker boy - money controls all sport tis true but football must be the worst culprit, SL is small fry compared to what they throw around.

We don't want Canadians in RL, it's bad enough having one on here.

Posted by: peawapp (4912)  Report abuse
The R.F.L are a bloody joke Dixon gets sent off for toronto for a punching attack on Harvey Livett, and gets no punishment, Mester Hock gets 1 match for punching and wasn't even sent off, stinks that ,the R.F.L. are a bloody joke

Come across for the Leigh match peawapp and shed all that anger. I think it is around 650 pounds for flights, hotel and match tickets plus a couple of tours. Be aware though all the beer is 5% plus so eight pints will be enough. BTW Hock no longer plays for you.

I see Brush and Brusherup have lots to say. Seems to be those that have been banned in the past have lots to say.

Posted by: peawapp (4912)  Report abuse
Toronto were favoured at the magic weekend by the useless Ref allowing two tries by the posing Liam Kay that were never tries in the memory of man, I fear that the R.F.L. have made up their minds to have two french teams , one Canadian team, and one American team in Super league in the next three years ,they will then pull up the drawbridge and the Sport will die , but as I am now in my mid 70s I can console myself with the fact that I have seen the sport at it,s best in the 50s and 60s ,seen live all the legends of the game .I have also seen my team beat every other team in the league both at home and away, so I will die a happy man ,it wont be very long now before this useless shower in charge of our great game will let it wither and die

peawapp.
Anyone that follows this sports section is aware of your love affair with RL. Lots of us (although not quite as old as you) remember to the halcyon days of RL. Visits to opposition grounds brought something different every away game. We have all done the treks to Cumbria or Humberside and remembered them for different reasons. We even visited Hilton Park from time to time but those days are gone. No longer will Cumbria sustain three teams due to lack of crowds. A lot of the Lancs and Yorkshire grounds only have spectators trickling through the gates. Batley, Bramley, Dewsbury, Swinton etc. are shadows of their former selves. We all have different opinions on why this is and who is to blame but the attendances speak for themselves. I think I read that there were 37,000 at Newcastle. What if Leeds played Cas, Wigan played Saints and Warrington played Widnes as stand alone games?? More than 37,000 I would think. I have no idea what the RL have in mind for the game in the next few years but just hope that not too many clubs fold. How long will Salford survive??

They should stick to ice hockey

Posted by: broady (13143)   Report abuse
I see Brush has borrowed Brusherupís lines. Obviously neither have heard of the E.I.H.L.

Posted by: jarvo (28087)  Report abuse
Toronto my arse!

Posted by: broady (13143)   Report abuse
Is that the best the poet can come up with?? Must be disheartening to have your best lines being repeated by the Village Idiot.
