Was the family from Platt Bridge? I have a memory of the name Caunce, whether from school - St. Nats or Millers Lane, I can't remember.

Hi Thomas,
I am your dad's cousin and I have loads of info on the Caunce family as I have been doing the family tree for a couple of years.
I have a tree on Genes reunited.
I believe my cousin Bill is in New Zealand, if you see him pass on my regards from Cyril.
My mum was your grandad's sister.
cheers
Cyril Ashurst

Hi Thomas, my Grandmother's sister, Lena (Helena) Davies, born 1907, married a Caunce. I don't know her husband's name but I think she had a son, John. Could there be a connection with your family? We have been unable to find any more information on her.

Hi Thomas,
My family tree is on Genes Reunited, if you join the site I can give you access to the tree.
However you will prbably have to start a tree and then Genes will come up with a link.
The Caunce line is very long.
Cheers
Cyril

Hi Cyril, I am not actually working on the Caunce family tree myself, but if Helena Davies married one of your family I would appreciate it if you could tell me her husband's name and DOB.
Thanks, Jo

Hi Maggie, I remember the Caunce's living at the start of
Millers Lane. It was a dirt road until the top end of the Vicarage wall, there was a pond opposite the houses I think they called it The Brickcroft---that's what my wife called it.

Hi Tom
We'll have to wait until Genes find a link to your tree and mine and then I can open my tree for you.
Are you still in N.Z.
I know your uncle Billy is out there, if you see him give him my regards.

Hi Brisby,

I have not come across a Helena Davies in my tree.
However our Caunce family is such a large one and she could have married a cousin of mine whom I never knew.
I'll look into it and if I find anything I'll let you know.

Hi Jo,
Helena Davies married Robert Caunce at St Andrews Wigan in 1927. Ref no C35/3/58.
There is a birth for Robert Caunce in Wigan in 1905. Ref ne WIG/245/27.
I don't think that Robert is a close relation of ours but then I don't have access to the 1911 census. This would give his parents names
He is not in my tree Jo so I cannot help any further.
Cyril.

Barbara Parr nee Caunce my cousin lives in Australia and I know that William went to see her on her wedding anniversary because she sent me some photos.
