whirley?

I'm looking in the parish records and find a likely baptism
at All Saint's with the baby's abide listed as Whirley. where would this be? I'm looking for a Pemberton family. And where was Smithy Brook?

Winnie Golden Bear explained Smithy Brook to me and I think Whirley is Whelley as the familt lived at Bottling Wood too

Kathpressey,

I can confirm that Whirley is Whelley. I had a similar link to my ancestor whose abode was listed as " Whirley ". Another historian of Wigan world confirmed it for me with a reference. I can pass that reference on if you want it, but be assured Whirley is Whelley. Hope this helps.
