owd robiner....did Mike Mahoney have a daughter, Kathleen?
When I was 15, my Aunty/Uncle took over the New Inn on Caroline St and I played the piano on Saturday nights there {for £1 a night!}
I distinctly remember a girl of that name who used to sing...she was quite a looker and always sang Starlight Serenade and I know her Father used to be with her.

There was a New Inn on Caroline St, INCE, I have an ancestor who was the landlord there on the 1871 census.

There was a New Star Inn on the corner of Wallgate and Miry Lane. I was the landlord there in 1962.

Kayleigh, not sure but on the census it looks like it was somewhere near Edward St, which was off Caroline St.

I was born in peel st and if it was on the corner of Edward St it could have been the big house on the end adjoining caroline st, or there was always the bred a patch of land facing the rifleman, where something had been pulled dowm before my time. interesting.

The only New Inn I knew in Ince was just beyond the railway bridge and lower down then the big rock pub.

Grouse, My Irish grandma and her friends who all lived in Wallgate used to go into the Star on the corner of Miry lane and Wallgate in their clogs and shawls. Probably in the 40s or early 50s. She told me that the Landlord used to put a crate of bottles under the seat so they wouldn't have to keep going to the bar.
