"Kenhill" Preston Road Standish
Started by: julieall (95)  Report abuse
My dad was born in 1933 and on his birth certificate his place of birth is listed as "Kenhill" Preston Road Standish. I have tried looking for old maps of the area but have been unable to track this place down. I don't know if it is a house name (I doubt it as they would have been a very poor family) or maybe a lodging house. Can anyone help.

If you go into Kenhill Coaches Standish and scroll down it refers to 10 Preston Road Standish. You might get some help from Standish Church (St Wilfrid''s ) church records.

Julie I found the staff at the History shop on Library St were brilliant when I traced my family tree.

Cyril said Can someone copy and paste this on julialls thread about her father on Places over on the Communicate Board. this has been copied from St Wilfred' Parish Records on Lancashire Online Parish Clerk. There isn't any more information as to was Kenhill the name of a house or a Close off Preston Road - maybe someone will know. Linma mentions a coach firm, but that is Kenmore coaches.

It's quite interesting to read through, I never knew that a farm was on High Street, and there's a lot of place names I've haven't heard of eg Jacks Terrace.
