Hello Winnie,
Just been looking at cemetery records. There seem to be a lot of elderly deaths registered at 75 Frog Lane. One of the deaths is registered as Welfare Frog Lane. Maybe this could be the one you are looking for. Also there is another death for Brown which states - Welfare Home. I have a feeling that Boston House is there now or at least near.
Hope you find what you are looking for Winnie.

When a couple of years back, at least, some kind folk on here were helping me to find out about my OH's ancestors, someone mentioned an address on "Frog Lane"as being either an infirmary or workhouse ( not as bad as it might sound, often for poorer people that would be the only practical place for medical aid, or for childbirth)
Could that be of any help?

Hello. 75 Frog Lane, Wigan was formerly known as the Workhouse from 1840 to 1929. Then it became the Frog Lane Public Assistance Institution from 1930 to 1948, thereafter known as Frog Lane Welfare home from 1949 to 1970. It was demolished in 1973 and was across the road from where Boston House is now.

Hope this is some assistance. Good luck with your search.
