Wigan, our beloved town seen through the eyes of a stranger.
Last Saturday my son took his partner, a Lancashire lass from Padiham, to Wigan for the first time. When they got back I asked her what she thought of Wigan "it's a dump".

To a outsider Wigan is a dump .Falling down houses behind the bus depot ,overlooking a recycle centre if you come by train/boat. Town centre a building site ,Galleries nearly empty and the indoor market half empty sometimes only a few stalls on the outside market. So first impressions are negative to any outsider
