Roburite

Just finding out that my auntie worked here at Shevington during the war. she put explosives into bullets and bomb cases. Apparently the girls who worked there had their hair turn yellow. Does anyone know about this place?

Found a film on youtube "Roborite Woods /Gathurst and pictures on google images too. Apparently this place made explosives for the pits

Kath, my Auntie Bessie(Elizabeth Tripp) also worked there during the war and after. She said that it was a pretty awful job. I remember Xmas parties there as a child along with my friend Billy Lyon.

My grandad Robert Bradshaw worked there but not sure when.
He was from Kitt Green.

i lived at appley bridge during the war my mother also worked at the robrite
the scaery part though was when lord haw haw used to broadcast on the radio that they where going to bomb it on there way to liverpool

Tashie, it would have been a prime targetI suppose as they were working to help our pilots. Scary times for families who worked there or lived close by
