Bamfurlong 'Gridirons'
Started by: priscus (7267) Report abuse
Read about them a lot in historical railway stuff.

Just thought I would appeal to anyone who might posses any photographs of them, requesting perhaps they might share them with us on here.

I have a detailed map dated 1892 showing both North & South Gridirons.

Must be doing something wrong somewhere to display the map.

I posted

(Ignore the red, it is just to make it show the text, and not turn into a link)

And it is not showing an image, but an icon, which will open image in a new page if you click on it. I don't know why it has behaved like that.

Thank you both for your help in getting the link to work ( well sort of ). Yes you can see the map but also other images that are in the folder. Very strange.

Thanks for posting the map.

Is it the Godfrey 'Bamfurlong' map?

Keep intending to order one of those, but have not, so far, done so.
(Lancashire Sheet 101.04 Bamfurlong & Bryn Gates 1906 - published 2005; intro by Alan Godfrey. ISBN.978-1-84151-798-8)

priscus, I have a set of 9 maps forming a 3x3 square, this one being the top left hand one. They are very detailed. If you would like a copy email me. You can find a link to me as follows. From wiganworld home page, select photos of wigan, album, places, abram, page 3, Abram sea cadets (photo). I have commented on this photo (PL) with a link to email. I can then send it to you by return. The file size is about 8.0mb each map.

Thanks bb. I do actually own a copy of that book, but it is not to hand, as I have loaned it to friend.

Must set a reminder to retrieve it.
