King Billy. What memories.

I recall The King Billy as the bus stop for Doctor Duffy's surgery

The pubs are dying like the baby boomer generation...little gin and wine bars in old shops now seem trendy

There were no pubs from the King Billy to the Bird I'th Hand in Hindley now it's worse still.

No pubs in the whole of Leigh Road, Hindley Green, used to be five + a labour club. Only three pubs left in Hindley Green, Swan, Spinners and Victoria. Alex is technically in Westhoughton.

Been told today the Balmoral and Jones Bar in Hindley are closing soon.

Sad to hear its closed its doors now.

I used to know quite a few that went in there in the early 70's. Dickie Sharples, Tony and Christine Mills. Anybody know what happened to them?

I remember Jockey getting hit on the head with a hammer in there, and refused to get in the ambulance!

Posted by: uncle joe (619) Report abuse
Thats because it wasnt a ball pain hammer!

I remember the snug behind the bar. You don't see many of those nowadays!

The Hockery Brook formerly the Amberswood lives on,it's now Formby's and is a real ale pub,Robinson's or Holts or both of them are the owners

Ok spud not been in since Ian and Hazel (RIP) had it but still prefer a pint of Tetleys to real ale. might give it a go.
