It's malware, Mindar.

Luckily my AV stops it from loading before it can do any harm.
Others may not be so well protected, that is why I put the warning on.

Like I said I have no anti virus. Never needed it. However, I do get a message warning me if a website is untrustworthy and that's free.

So, I take it some malware is lurking on WW site, (or on the sever hosting the site) which is redirecting the browsers of users to these sites (that contain viruses) which are being identified and blocked.

Anyone know if the Bot concerned has been identified yet?

Only seems to happen if you have JavaScript enabled when you click to select the word a day topic, and not if you disable JS! (Though then the emoticons links won't work)

I assume that someone has inserted a Java Script re-direct virus hidden in the destination the link (topic title) takes you to.

It needs sorting, before it redirects someone to a malicious site which the AV database has not yet logged!

Whenever I enter the 'New Word a Day' thread, my AV notifies me that it has blocked access to the navylark site which is infected with a virus.

I have not myself attempted to access the NL site, so I presume there is a 'Redirect Virus' lurking on WW.

I wonder if only some members are being subject to a redirect attempt?

Maybe some are also being protected by their AV, but not notified that it has scored a hit.

Of course if someone does get an unprotected redirect, they presumably will not know, but will later experience some computer problem based upon the malware load their PC receives.

As the script causing the re-direct is triggered by clicking onto the 'Word a Day' thread, it WOULD suggest that there is malware on the WW site.

I have Avast, Malwarebytes and Windows Defender scan and find nothing to report on my machine, however, it could be a binary: ie innocuous code planted on users machines which fails to trigger any response from AV, and only becomes malicious when a script runs, which is hidden within the link that runs the 'Word a day' thread.
