Wigan U3A - a meeting place for retired gentlefolk

Started by: jo anne (34721)

Wigan’s own U3A is almost ready to launch - Facebook:

"We've formed a committee, undergone the requisite training & adopted a constitution.

Venue
The Wigan U3A will be based at The Edge, Southgate (Pottery Rd), Wigan. WN3 5AB
The fantastic facilities include a Community Hub with easy access from a decent car park. There's also a bus stop opposite & the train station a short walk away.

Meetings
Two main meetings each month – a speaker meeting & a coffee morning - Wednesdays at 10am.
Also group interest meetings organised by the group leaders.

Finance - An annual fee of £15

Inaugural meeting
Hopefully early in April. Please come along to our first meeting - and bring a friend!

Recruitment
• Volunteers needed to organise interest groups
Any subject/activity & at a time and venue that suit the members of the group.
• Committee members also needed - all positions are voluntary & not too time consuming.

Please contact us if you feel you would like to be involved."

WIGAN U3A (22 Mar):

Hello everyone out there in waiting for Wigan U3A land. We're very near to announcing an inaugural meeting date. Just go with us a bit longer. The steering committee has been working very hard to get things in place so that everything runs smoothly.

Any questions please ask away. Our E-mail address is members.wiganu3a@gmail.com

Joe Anne, Do you think that Wigan U3A will take off when you look at the number of people post on her, sometimes you may get 3 per night but the best of luck with it,

I’m only trying to help by advertising it on WW, Bentlegs. Back in November, 120 people attended an initial meeting and most seemed interested then.

I think a good friend of mine from Wigan Ukelele Club is involved so if it isn’t a success it won’t be for lack of effort. Good luck to them.
