I don't have a good story per say, but there's a programme I watched a couple weeks ago called 'haunted' and it's hilarious! I honestly didn't get sucked in by all the stuff they were showing but there were people from all over the UK texting in about what they can see on the pictures shown and some even have the webcams going. Has anyone seen this programme? There's a grey headed guy with a liverpool accent who's one of the main ghost hunters. I don't intend to offend anyone who takes the programme serious but I nearly wet myself watching it because I laughed that much

karvern the prog you mentioned is called Most Haunted the grey haired guy is called Derek Akura, & in my opinion if anybody believes it then they are easily convinced, i watched a live one last year and there was people ringing in saying `i can see a person in the corner in such a room` RUBBISH, the fact that the web cams were pixilating & if you looked long enough then the pixilation would start to form images, just like looking @ those 3d pictures that you have to stare at for a while till you see the pic. Anyway just my opinion, don`t want to burst the believers bubbles

Strange thing is that when I'd written my response last night, I was tempted to check the channel out and low and behold - it was on! Talk about fiction.. they were going on about all the creeks and noises - well "hello" it was night time, the temperatures were cooling down and the structure of an old rectory in Cornwall built late 1700's would do that right? But the spirit, (his name was John) supposedly touched 2 people in that room - yep, it was the best i'd seen yet And Keily you're so right about the pixels forming images. If that was a ghost they pointed out on camera, it was an extremely tiny one It was fun though so I may keep tuned when there's nothing else worth watching

On a more real life matter though, my parents were convinced their place was haunted when they lived in York many, many years ago. Apparently it was haunted by twin sisters and the majority of residents declared they'd seen the same things, so maybe there are spirits lurking around somewhere.

Ghostman, being that you asked the question, how about you share a real life story with us?

Keily, I agree a few years ago he would have been called a CON MAN and arrested, it just shows you how daft and stupid the people in this country have become, (well some of them anyway) the mind boggles cheers.

Has anyone heard of 'owd Hannah'? My mam and dad told me two separate stories that happened to them in their youth in the 1940's. My parents were born next door to each other in Wallgate. My mam was born in the Coffee House and Dad next door in the Coffee House Inn and somewhere nearby there was a alleyway that lead to the back of the property. Dad said there was one day each year when you walked down the passage and you could not hear the echo of your clogs and that was the day Hannah walked. A murder victim, she was seen first by mam on a very misty dark day. She watched her walk to the lock keepers gate towards the canal. She saw her in Victorian garb and she walked through the locked gate towards the water with my mam in hot persuit as she thought it was someone committing suicide. She saw her disappear into the water, but there was no splash. She ran for help but none of the adults, including her parents would come. They knew it was Hannah but never talked about it. Dad saw the same thing years later. He was walking down wallgate with the local bobby who rushed over ready to dive in, till he remembered the date. I was never told the date though.

I believe something happens after we die, some sort of residue remains, but not sure they are ghosts per se. I do believe in psychic ability though. I went to see a medium after mum died. I was asked not to say one word until afterwards, and I sat with my back to the medium. There were no mirrors or shiny surfaces in the room so she could not 'read' my face. I was told things only three people in the world knew up to that point, me my sister and the undertaker. There is no way she could have known. The medium does not know my sister and it is unlikely the undertaker as she lived in another county altogether.

the body dies(matter) the spirit is indestructable, therefore passes on into another realm of existence(some call it heaven) to the knockers of this topic, i would ask this...do you believe in jesus christ???if yes, then didnt christ himself return in spirit to his desciples on at least three separate occasions???didnt christ say the things you see me do today, you will do even greater things.
just a thought mates, just a thought.

There's so many beliefs and we'll never really know what's what even when we die, because if our spirit comes back and uses another human form we're not going to remember are we? We're too curious, that's our problem

I agree on one thing in Billy's first posting. The skin, bones, muscle etc of a body does die but as our animation is made up of electrical impulses these can not die. You can't kill electricity so I agree that it is re-directed somewhere else. Into the national grid, mayhap?

Am enjoying reading these John. I told you all my tales before WW changed and I haven't thought of any more since then.

But what is the truth? We'll never truly know. We only know what we choose to believe and we're fortunate enough to have the choice to choose and to be given a choice to investigate and seek what we 'think' is the truth.

I love listening to other people's beliefs and opinions. It's what makes us all so unique. let's keep this subject running

proof is something that lucky or priviledged people attain.30 years ago in phily, i was invited to a sceance being held in this house owned by a dr.there was a group of eight people.three males and five females. we were all strangers to each other, apart from myself being english with the accent to go with it.during this sceance, a womans little girl came in to speak to her mother. the little girlr was asked a lot of questions by her mother, who broke down hearbroke at the revelations of her child.i myself was given the name of my father who was said to be standing alongside me. i asked different questions regarding my mothers name, how many kids he had, where we had him buried ect ect ect. i have to say, that all the positive evidence passed on to me that evening, left me quite shaken, and later on i felt over the moon, i couldnt help but feel so happy and excited, i had just had proof that YOU CANT DIE FOT THE LIFE OF YOU.

Billy, just reading that made the hairs stand to attention on my arms... there goes that shivery feeling again

I've never been to a sceance but I have seen a spiritualist (hindu) and clairvoyant. The spiritualist while talking to me told me I was pregnant before I even knew - talk about being thrown off my chair! Obviously the following day I had to check it out and he was correct.

The Clairvoyant told me a lot about my family, how many sisters I have, brothers etc, about a death of a close friend and in detail of how he died, discussed things with me that she would never have been able to guess. However, when she predicted my future she got some of it wrong. She told me I'd have 2 children, 1 girl, 1 boy, and I only have one, a girl. But she did say that I'd meet a man from a far away land and life would be like rose coloured cottages - she got that part correct

My sister did attend a sceance and she told me that Uncle Tom was there, my Dad's brother. When uncle Tom died, mum and dad were in the Isle of Sky and couldn't get back in time for the funeral due to them being on a coaching holiday (no transportation to bring them back). Obviously this pained my Dad and he felt really bad about it. My sister was told at the sceance that Uncle Tom was there to tell her to tell Dad not to feel bad about not being at his funeral? There's those hairs again.. standing to attention

on a more biblical tone(there i go again)in prophesis, much of what is happening today, has been prophesised. its all there in black and white.now these prophets were mediums were they not??they had the gift of prophesy, yup, i guess i know i am in truth a spirit in a body of matter, and on the day my spirit leaves this body of matter, the body is dead, and i will move on into an etheric world.
yeahhhhh, roll on the day my sentence here on earth is over.just a thought here mates, is earth in fact hell??????

I'd rather stay here too unless someone can prove to me there's a better place than earth and I would be able to take my family with me. Earth is a beautiful planet if we reach back to nature and omit the atrocoties that man hath spread here. I have a wonderful life compared to others. Like Ann442 said, "no one has ever come back to tell us" so why would we want to be anywhere else? Would we go and move into a new home if we hadn't seen where we'd be moving to? Probably not, but that's where we'd reside so what's the difference? Believing in something you haven't seen but read about?

What about Guardian Angels who only turn up when a job is needed to be done, and guide thought processes, movement and decisions. Then they just leave once the job is done. Person best suited to the situation is sent.

What are ghost? and why does everyone that dies not become a ghost? Could it be that ghost are people that don't know their dead? Because no-one told them their dead. Many reported incidents of strange sightings at or near the scene of a death. People with near death experience have said they have seen parents long dead or other friends or relatives waiting for them to make the final jouney.

To all the Psychics, nuts,& conmen/women....Prove it or shurrup

Always remember that man made the world as corrupt as it is today. If you look beyond our atrocities and focus on the beauty of nature, you'll be able to accept that the world isn't such a bad place to live. There's a great video out called "planet Earth" by David Attenborough that is very inspiring and maybe, just maybe, if you watch it, you'll be able to live a happy peaceful life during your time here on earth instead of loathing your existence. Life is only negative when you think it as negative and happiness comes from positive thinking but only you can make it happen, but you have to want it first As is stated, 'whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall recieve. MATT. 21:22

Karven: "whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall recieve. MATT. 21:22" I dont knock your belief, but your quote sticks in my thoat somewhat. When I first realised most of my hearing had gone forever, I did pray and as you probably guessed, it did not work. I was quite specific in my belief and what I needed. I made my own way of dealing with it but only because of skin of my teeth and family.

i believe in the laws of cause and effect.
i believe in a superior god force of pure love.i do not believe in a single entity god???a god force yes, a/ god no.we are all gods, because the force runs through us from natural psychic inheritance in all our genes.its because of the bible quotes that are often taken out of context, and more than what is healthy for a book that is the bedrock of religion,we see over and over again oposites of what has gone before.???the (good book)was compiled by man from witnesses, years after the events.because of mans involvement comes the inaccuracies that so often appear and consequently deny the book the right to be correct in every dotted I, and crossed T.
i would emphasise here that i am putting to print my personal convictions after reading the book more than some hot gospelors and hell and damnation fundamentalists.

for some years now, i have ivestigated EVP
meaning (electronic voice phenomenon.)i have had quite a few startling results over the years.(this is related to the ghost topic)unmistakenly human, or i should say more accurately, spirit voices.my eldest daughter lived for some years in an old farm house. she had 15 acres of land and stables.this property is just on the outskirts of tyldesly.we regularly had group sittings on a weekend. a couple of us had equiptment that picked up noise/voice/whispers ect from those deceased from this world, but very active in the spirit world.i have witnessed a window being opened when one of the ladies present complained of being to warm.(opened by itself????)after one sitting, we turned the lights up(they were never put out)found written scrawled messages on the wall??one persistent scribbler was agitated that we were all sat in his kitchen, and that we should sling our hooks and begone. you ask are ghosts real....is there life after death...believe me when i tell you, YOU CANT DIE FOT THE LIFE OF YOu.

Dark horse, sorry to hear of your ailment, that must be difficult and hard to come to terms with. I sincerely understand how the words from MATT 21:22 must 'stick in your throat' but when I wrote that, I was meaning to remind people that it's the strength of "believing" in you that matters. I personally don't practice the bible due to many reasons. However those words came to me from when I was made to go to church as a child and for some reason they never left me Our subconscious minds are a wonderful thing to explore...

seeing is believing dark horse. one can be understood to doubt an eteral life. remember doubting thomas???christ appeared before him after the crucifixion, yet thomas couldnt believe what he was seeing.its all down to the individual, and that individuals personal experiences. i have always considered myself very priviledged to have born witness to what lies behind the curtain.
