Could be Cheap Labour! It is wrong to discriminate but could it be the Eastern Europeaans will work for a lesser rate of pay and employers are capitalising on this fact!!!??

It is discrimination, but the fact is no
one wins in a situation like this, you can't blame the polish workers, who by the way work to a very high standard and are exellent craftsmen, they are enticed
over to Britain because of our standard of living and wages, only to have to undercut British workers by working for less. It's not fair all round.I would like to know more of the details of this
before i go on a witch hunt looking for
foriegners to linch. It's not that long ago a young polish lad was kicked to death for getting a job and HAD to work for less money in Southport.Who ever put that sign up (allegedly)should be horse whipped,Give us some facts about it buzybee please.

XRH
You are right in what you say about the standard of work.
We have just had our drive block paved and when the workmen arrived we were surprised to find that they were Polish workers and boy did they WORK we have never seen anyone work as hard !!!
As you say it is unfair all round the only winners are the employers!!

When you say 'plumbing job' i take it you mean working for a plumbing suppliers and not working as an heating engineer??? Then again its a good job at the mo we`ve (well most of er erm) have to adhere to building regs which i`ve seen the madness caused by a so-called 'polish electrician' cheap labour maybe, but risking folks lives I THINK NOT

Hi teash, seen some so called Wigan leccys
do some deadly work too,had to eject one
from my house a while since after nearly
killing us all,I was told by his company he was the best electrician in town and had been with them for years,That is not what the health and saftey guy told us and the company after.I hope he never works again, unless he has a spade in his hand following the horses at blackpool.

It's the same in the Haulage industry, there are more polish driver's on the road than our own, greedy employers paying them less wages, and undermining safety reg's
My mate works for a haulage firm that transport carpet's (Preston area )
They asked for a pay rise due to the hours they were working, the boss called all his drivers into his office on a friday afternoon and told them there was no chance of a pay rise and if they didn't like it they could leave, he then showed them a letter from a polish driver:
Dear Sir
I am a polish driver looking for work in the uk, I will drive your truck for 125 pounds a week as long as I can have the truck to sleep in until I find somewhere to live
Needless to say my mate walked out, and was joined by 2 others, the next thing we will get is "Well, the poles will drive for 125 a week so you can do the same " yeh right !

I'm with xrh on this Im a retired plumber and I would like to know the company involved before any witch hunt takes place. It sounds as if it was a plumber not a shop assistant looking for the job.

Do,nt you have unions over there,or a licencing body, that controls Working conditions and pay of workers .Maybe all the union officials of your Unions are over here, because most Unions here are controlled by someone from the U K.Thank god we,ve got authorities here that control what people get ,so no one his exploited.

XRH, I don't know who your electrician was or which company he worked for, but if you need one again make sure the company is NICEIC registered, otherwise you may get one that's not fully qualified. I've worked for Corlett's for coming up to 23 years now and there's never once been an incident occurred in that, or any other time, that I'm aware of. This company has been in business since the 1890s so we've got a bit of a reputation we'd like to keep.

Hate to bring this up but English workers were classed as lazy here one time. The companies had signs on the door that said "no English need apply"My next door neighbour who died a few years ago told me the this. The signs had to be taken down after the war they were classed as rascist. The union i was in was run by English and Scotsmen. The president was from Manchester and i dont think he knew where the steel plant was. There were 13000 workers in there when i worked there.I have had a lot of visitors over the last 47 years and they all say how good the the help in the stores is and how polite and quick they are.The last visitor we had came from near the Half Way house in Pemberton and he actually took a photo of the men in one store and showed it to me.They lined up at the door every morning and welcomed in the first customers.I am in Wigan every year and i could tell you some stories you cant help noticing.

On the A49, in Staffordshire, they've put up roadsigns written in Polish for the benefit of the influx of Polish drivers. And to think that we all thought we were being taken over by Pakis!

They're in breach of equal opportunities legislation!

Unless there's a 'GOR' (Genuine Occupational Requirement) it's illegal. Saving costs is not an acceptable reason.

(An acceptable reason would be such as recruiting an Asian woman to work in an Asian womens' refuge).
