JUST BEEN ON THE 6.00'CLCOK NEWS THAT SHEARINGS AND ITS OTHER COMPANIES HAVE GONE INTO LIQUIDATION LET'S HOPE SOMEONE TAKES IT OVER.. THEY WERE STILL ADVERTISING HOLIDAYS YESTERDAY... NOW THAT'S A BIT NAUGHTY..

I know a lady that works for them, she's worked for them over 20 years and a couple of weeks ago i was talking to her, she said everything was hunky dory with shearings and they were doing good, I don't think she would purposely lie to me, So they must have kept all the staff in the dark about it, Its a shame because she's at an age were it will be hard to find other work,

I,ve no holidays booked with Shearings for this are next year, all my Travelodge and Premier Inn bookings have been sorted too my satisfaction, got an e-mail this morning saying they had cancelled a booking for June, giving me a chouse of full refund or a voucher for full amount + 25% that would last till December 2021, voucher will be here in the next 14 Days

I have had many mini breaks with Shearings They were good value for money. I can't complain about any of them. Been all over the country. We always went on 2 or 3 a year, as did a lot of other "OLDER" people. For some people it was their only holiday and will be sadly missed.

We, at my place of work, found out about three weeks ago that Shearing's were in trouble.

Because of the lockdown I haven't been at work since the end of March but I've been in contact with my boss who told me about this, and it is very sad indeed, as they've been our customers for more than 30 years.

Having personally dealt with many of their staff over those years it is a terrible thing to have happened to them, and their customers who enjoyed their trips with them but, I do hope that, at some point they will recover, even be it on a smaller scale to begin with.

Sorry to hear of their demise. Lots of jobs losses everywhere, goodness knows where it will end.

I think that Shearings will be bought by another firm from the administrators, because as the lockdown eases, holidays abroad are going to be impossible, so the holiday industry in this country will boom, so folk will need coach services to get to where they have gone to on holiday, so there will be a demand for coach services, so I wouldn't worry too much about it

Shearings is not a profitable company and the owners have been looking to offload them for some time. £1.9m profit from a turnover of £209.6m (less than 1%) is not viable longterm.

They were in a perilous position way before the coronavirus struck and now, sadly the nails have been hammered into the coffin lid.

Shearings hotels have been one step above Brittannia Hotels

They should run chartered trains, to get from one end of the country to the other, with the coaches finishing off the journeys, that would cut down the travelling times, and make for a much more 'comfortable' experience for the passengers, and run the trains via the scenic routes, such as the Settle to Carlisle line, to keep the main lines clear, and give the passengers something to see

Good idea TTS. Edward de Bono would see it as a classic example of lateral thinking.

Contract law would quickly scotch that idea!

Trouble is TTS is the coaches pick up in all sorts of different areas, when you are going on a holiday with them.
So it can take the coach 10 hours or more to get to the south coast.
