Corrie

Friday's episode about abusive Geoffrey was quite harrowing. But the whole story about emotional and verbal abuse has been brilliantly done I think. Pity anyone who has to live in that kind of situation.

I havent watched Corrie for over 20 years when the storylines, characters and diversity became farcical and irritable !

I haven't watched Coronation street since Ena Sharples was in it. Don't like anything that needs to be a follow on. If same characters are featured and a complete story each episode it suits me better.

Coronation Street was spoiled years ago with really stupid
story lines,I have the odd look at it,and it's still rubbish.

The storyline has been brilliantly done, Kath, (as has Gemma’s struggles as a new mum).

With the lockdown it could seem even more difficult to leave a similar situation, but this was posted yesterday:

If you’re in an unhappy home and are at risk of or experiencing domestic abuse, you can leave. You are not alone and there is support available. LINK

I agree with you joanne. Corrie today tackles relevant topics which affect many people. I read that Boots chemists are also offering their consulting rooms as a safe haven for victims during lockdown.

I did watch that episode as my daughter had it on the tv,but dont usually watch it .It should not of been aired at 7.30 . I watch the old ones on ITV3 in the afternoon so much better than the drivel they show now

I have been watching the old episodes and it has been quite helpful in clarifying some of the complex relationships in the current episodes. Like who is and was married to who and who's the daddy of some of these younger characters.

The actor who played Geoff, Ian Bartholomew, released a song in support of Women's Aid:

Did any sharp eyed viewer notice when Debbie was locked in the Freezer her hair had grown quite a bit because Hairdressers were closed. They took her in an Ambulance & in her Hospital bed she's got her very short cropped style

Never watched it since Dennis Tanner left.. Why is it these days all the similar programmes i.e. East Enders, Emmerdale, Every time you see trailers it's people shouting, screaming, fighting, crying... No wonder all the young ones these days are 'depressed'..

It's fine and entirely acceptable for them to show murder, rape, torture and violent robbery constantly on tv. Nearly every programme, adverts even, is promoting homosexuality.
But we can't watch 'Love Thy Neighbour', 'Till Death Us Do Part or Rising Damp' because they all contain the reference to "Nig-Nogs"?

It doesn't make sense to me!

Fawlty Towers is being screened but the Major’s comments are to be censored!!!! When were we robbed of the right to decide what we want to watch? A few non elected, overpaid people now seem to decide what I will find offensive. As far as I am aware every TV is complete with an on/off switch. I use it every time I see a programme with men kissing in it. I don’t expect it to be banned because I don’t like it.

beryl the mask thing.. when pubs and cafes were open [still are in Corrieland]. you could remove mask at your table but had to put the mask on again when leaving before crossing the room. I have wondered why they are removed on hospital visits though!
