Show you support

Tonight at 8pm can you all either stand on doorsteps or open a window and clap and cheer as loudly as you can for all the frontline workers - NHS staff, carers, food and medicine delivery drivers, shop workers and anyone else on the frontline, risking their own lives to makes yours better.

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse

Haha, Tonker you tinker!

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
It is, but there's always one who lowers the tone for the sake of attention.

Posted by: momac (10743)  Report abuse
Come on Basil..let's not spoil your thread.

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
It was spoiled the moment plonker posted.

Britain will cheer EVERY Thursday at 8pm for NHS

Copy and pasted from fb👍👍

Posted by: AngelWood (173) Report abuse
we should be cheering for all key workers. Those serving us in supermarkets, those looking after key workers' children in schools, those delivering food and fuel, those keeping gas, electricity and clean water flowing.

Posted by: stars (420)  Report abuse
Itís the least we can do basil, as you say it was emotional, and yes letís keep it going, the amount of people who honoured the NHS and Carers with the appreciation was brilliant

Posted by: linma (2573) Report abuse
Brought a tear to my eye to be standing at our door clapping with our neighbours.

Posted by: FAT MICK (1094) Report abuse
Well I forgot and thank goodness so did all out street.

The people who get involved in silly things like this probably watch Britain got Talent and the Voice.

Posted by: Joe Maplin (338)  Report abuse
Oh dear

Posted by: Domino (80) Report abuse
I hope they do it again,it must have been wonderful for all who work for our NHS.

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
Then mick wonders why a lot of people don't like him, Pratt.

Posted by: FAT MICK (1094) Report abuse

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
Your a disgrace.

Posted by: meleager (172)  Report abuse

SOFT MICK if your a real person meet me face to face like i asked! IDIOT

Posted by: TerryW (4136) Report abuse
LG you'll have some people on your case asking for a meet. He's an old man with a loose mouth and mind, just ignore.

Posted by: priscus (8257) Report abuse
Just been reported, though not yet confirmed, first GP death from Covid-19 in UK.

Posted by: bentlegs (4521) Report abuse
Basil, Just give Tonker a load of wavey men,

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
One thing is for sure, lg, the one who's "willing to meet" won't be nasty to you again, even from behind his keyboard

Posted by: Aziraphale (200) Report abuse
Why, Laughing gravy? Do you want to inflift violence on a person because you don't like his posts and lack the intelligence to counter?

It isn't a legal requirement to give anyone a round of applause.

Put the man on ignore.

I dont normally get involved with the anonymous low lifes, but my lady friend says Mick why dont you ask the question, How come this pretend new boy on Wiganworld knows so much about me.

Perhaps you Tom knows the answer to that simple question.

Posted by: firefox (1493) Report abuse
Oh I dunno, Azir, I think a stern telling off will shut the old fool up.

Google Mick Byrne to see that is really is an old man.

Posted by: TerryW (4136) Report abuse
I know lots and can spot an old lowlife when I see one.

Posted by: TerryW (4136) Report abuse
Oh by the way many of my friends both male and female gave me the heads up on you.

Posted by: momac (10743)  Report abuse
Mick, even Kate and Williams children were clapping,so if you think you're
above them,you're highly deluded.

Posted by: TerryW (4136) Report abuse
That's an understatement, Momac. The tales I could tell!

Posted by: firefox (1493) Report abuse
He will be lowly deluded, Momac.

What do you all think about the gagging of NHS workers: being threatened with their careers being ended if they speak out about what is really happening?

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
Don't forget tonight at 8 o'clock people

Clap for our HEROES

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
Another fantastic night, keep up the good work,

Posted by: priscus (8257) Report abuse
The clapping is great isn't it.

But health workers, and other essential workers are putting themselves in harms way on our behalf, and we are certainly NOT doing all that we could to protect them.

I am sorry, but it is JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

In 1939, every man, woman and child was issued with a respirator to protect them from a threat which never materialised.

In 2020, we have fatalities amongst health care staff who tried to protect themselves with bin liners where adequate PPE could not be obtained!

A month into all of this, and we have not redirected our resources to address this most pressing need.

News reports show individuals in various trades refocusing their endeavours to provide what is needed. (But, this is small scale.)

WHY have we not seen the industrial refocusing that we saw in WW2 so that the manufacture and distribution of that which we most need, already churning out the massive quantities of PPE?

Mat Hancock said yesterday, if you can make this sort of stuff, contact us.

Lots of messages from those who can saying we did so weeks ago, and have received no response from UK government.

I am sorry. THIS IS A FAILURE!

Posted by: priscus (8257) Report abuse
I hate being negative, but we should learn from this, and do so rapidly.

We could do better than we have so far achieved.

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
More again tonight people, but there asking not to set fireworks off or light Chinese lanterns.

Posted by: Billinge Biker (199) Report abuse
Here here..... a minute out of your life will not kill you.. there are thousands in the cemeteries who would gladly swap places with the negative folk.

Posted by: priscus (8257) Report abuse
Really strange this week.

Previous weeks lots of people clappin.

This week, just me and three other nearby households in my immediate neighbourhood.

Could be they have tired of it already.

Maybe they have all had enough of lockdown, and gone out for the evening!

Quite a lot of hoots from car horns! More road traffic than I have seen in a month.

Posted by: jathbee (10135) Report abuse
I think maybe some people were expecting a different outcome than another three weeks in lockdown.

Posted by: FAT MICK (1094) Report abuse
The Fakebooker have come to there senses and relised clapping is just a waste of time when your not going to be shown on the telly news

Posted by: priscus (8257) Report abuse
I was surprised.

I live in the midst of a cluster of very large houses, at least half of them have been converted into care homes. Also, two major hospitals nearby and a University Med school, so there is a high concentration of health/care workers hereabouts.

The first hospital in UK to treat Covid-19 is here, so health workers here have been living with this since January.

On local News just, 38 people have died here today: maybe this has left people subdued.

Show your support not just for the NHS, but for all the key workers, which is anyone who is working, no matter what the job, as well 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Posted by: priscus (8257) Report abuse
Very muted here, tonight.

I gave the absentees the benefit of doubt last week, reasoning maybe the large number of deaths locally, had left people with reduced appetite to clap.

But, alas, even fewer this week, I guess that the novelty is wearing off.

Quite a few sounds of fireworks heard in the greater distance though, even though local TV appeal had requested not to set off fireworks!

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
ANOTHER fantastic turnout round our way, apart from the idiots setting fireworks off, been like this from week 1.

Plus it gives everyone the chance for a chat

Posted by: basil brush (13865) Report abuse
