The clapping is great isn't it.

But health workers, and other essential workers are putting themselves in harms way on our behalf, and we are certainly NOT doing all that we could to protect them.

I am sorry, but it is JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

In 1939, every man, woman and child was issued with a respirator to protect them from a threat which never materialised.

In 2020, we have fatalities amongst health care staff who tried to protect themselves with bin liners where adequate PPE could not be obtained!

A month into all of this, and we have not redirected our resources to address this most pressing need.

News reports show individuals in various trades refocusing their endeavours to provide what is needed. (But, this is small scale.)

WHY have we not seen the industrial refocusing that we saw in WW2 so that the manufacture and distribution of that which we most need, already churning out the massive quantities of PPE?

Mat Hancock said yesterday, if you can make this sort of stuff, contact us.

Lots of messages from those who can saying we did so weeks ago, and have received no response from UK government.

I am sorry. THIS IS A FAILURE!

Really strange this week.

Previous weeks lots of people clappin.

This week, just me and three other nearby households in my immediate neighbourhood.

Could be they have tired of it already.

Maybe they have all had enough of lockdown, and gone out for the evening!

Quite a lot of hoots from car horns! More road traffic than I have seen in a month.

I was surprised.

I live in the midst of a cluster of very large houses, at least half of them have been converted into care homes. Also, two major hospitals nearby and a University Med school, so there is a high concentration of health/care workers hereabouts.

The first hospital in UK to treat Covid-19 is here, so health workers here have been living with this since January.

On local News just, 38 people have died here today: maybe this has left people subdued.

Very muted here, tonight.

I gave the absentees the benefit of doubt last week, reasoning maybe the large number of deaths locally, had left people with reduced appetite to clap.

But, alas, even fewer this week, I guess that the novelty is wearing off.

Quite a few sounds of fireworks heard in the greater distance though, even though local TV appeal had requested not to set off fireworks!
