So who watched Corrie last night? Brilliantly acted and hearbreaking to watch. Contrast to Eastenders with stories of gangsters and violence. Corrie wins by a mile!

I also though Ken's dialogue was good where he was talking about death and how we shy away from discussing it and yet it is inevitable for everyone.

cath i dont watch corrie but we all know deaths coming but what can you say? i dont think it would go down well if someone was to walk in saying hip hip hooray, when my mum was dying i kissed her said love you see you later and walked out,i knew i would'nt see her again..

I agree with laughing gravy, if you get pleasure out of watching stuff like that, you want to think on, and try doing something else in your life

It's getting like those awful US films they show here about kids dying or being swapped at birth. Maudlin shows for the benefit of those who like to feel sorrow, reminds me of when I was a kid I would see those women going to funerals of people they didn't know just for a wail.

Yes we had a professional funeral gate crasher in our family, the spread they had after it was a temptation too

Yes, laughing gravy, and that is called 'showing respect' which you can be proud of, but some folk don't know the meaning of the word 'respect' .

This was excellent tv. The most important part of this story was to show that cervical cancer does not just affect older women but even girls in their 20s. Thankfully this storyline has increased the number of young ladies going for their check-ups rather than taking the 'it won't happen to me' route. By highlighting this it is hoped that lives will be saved.

Let's hope it gets the message over.

Some people and churches would pay for professional wailers of the parish, not Bob Marley's, but proper mourners.

Fair comment and when Jade Goody died of cervical cancer, that led to an increase in women being tested for it, but I doubt ITV's motives for using this particular storyline, is as noble as you suggest, because quite simply storylines like this increase viewing figures, because folk like watching morbid stuff like that.

Fair enough, but if there are just 10 young ladies it gets through to, with the advantage of the social media they use hopefully the message will be passed around.

I don't think it was excellent television at all, good that it brought the cervical cancer screening to the attention of younger females who need to get it done. But I agree it was to boost viewing figures as was that Haley and Roy story. Poor acting in my opinion and I don't just mean for this story line but on the whole, the Ken Barlow character is as wooden today as he was when it first started.

Well, TTS, if it boosts figures then more people will be aware of it, which obviously is a good thing.

Maybe they could do it with stroke because a lot of people think that only happens to old people.

Maybe showing a person with really bad Flu would make people have the injection, anyone can catch Flu regardless of how they look after themselves

Good idea Nana J,flu can be really serious and debilitating. Sometimes I've heard people say 'I was out shopping and I was full of flu' ! No you were not,you might have had a heavy cold, but if you have flu every muscle aches and you've a job to lift your head off your pillow.

Emotional and well acted, just what mainstream TV demands. However death simply does not happen in this way t

Stardelta - I suppose some are lucky and have a peaceful death and others not so lucky. It's the same with births.

the three major soaps on tv,corrie, emmerdale and worst of all eastenders have descended into far too many violent stories.

I agree baker boy and what annoys me more that anything is that the slightest disagreement is solved by a punch to the face. Then all the gangster stories and constant kidnappings are just not convincing.I think Corrie concentrates more on the families' ups and downs although the recent prison riot wa stupid and boring.

Not be long before we see “ so happy to have reached 13000 posts on Wigan’s Number 1 site” At his current rate of posting around next Monday/Tuesday. Will of course omit to say the 99.9% of them have been the ramblings of an imbecile.
