Tonight from 8-00 till midnight Gerard Street in Ashton will be closed for resurfacing work.Traffic diverted via Stubshaw Cross then along the B5207 Golborne/Ashton road. Do our planners at the highways dept NOT KNOW there is a weak bridge with a weight limit of 26 tonnes along this route plus a height limit on Edge Green LaneAre they hoping that No HGV's will want to go through Ashton after 8-00 tonight. Yet another cock up by our council

surely a better diversion would be via M6 at Landgate

It's not Gerard Street. It's Liverpool Road junction.

You can't say, "Traffic diverted via Stubshaw Cross then along the B5207 Golborne/Ashton road" because the traffic is diverted all over the place. It depends where they're coming from and where they're heading!

I thowt, gerard street does not need resurfacing, but it does need all those cars parking to go to KFC and subway stopping, they block the road just to get a fat arse,

Tonker Wigan MBC link was Gerard street closed and they gave alternative routes to get round the closure.I was only printing part of their diversion to point out they COULD be sending HGV's over a weak bridge
