Spotify

Started by: priscus (inactive)

Keep getting notifications concerning this. I think they are triggered by one of the media player apps which I use.

Anyway, "You own this app", shows, along with a button to install, so, as you can discern, I have not actually used or even installed it thus far.

Should I?

Would any of you with experience of Spotify please be so kind as to tell me of its pros and cons.

Priscus I had Spotify when I had a laptop, the free version was ok for me but the only downside - if adverts bother you - is that you have to listen to one after every 3 or 4 songs, obviously you avoid this on the subscription version of Spotify but I’m not sure how much it is. All I’d say is if you want to try Spotify make sure it’s the actual app you’re downloading and not a scammer version. I think you’d probably get the genuine version through App Store maybe.

Thanks sjm.

Seems I already have the app, just not installed.

Does it span a wide spectrum of music genre?

Don't really listen to today's stuff. I listen to Classical, Opera, Blue Grass and music from the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's 1980's and 1990's but I seem to lose interest in where contemporary music was heading, post-millennium.

Yeah pretty much whatever you want can be found on there from my experience. I don’t know if this just applies to the free version but you could pick songs you like and save them into various playlists but not download them to other gadgets like iPods etc. Maybe someone else might be able to correct me if I’m wrong on that one.

I've had the free version installed for a long time
it's very good, just the slightly annoying ad now and then as stevejmac14 mentioned above
you just type in a search for whatever you want

what music are you interested in prisus ?

post a list of some of your favourite artistes and I can do a search and do some screen shots for you to show you what it comes up with, will give you an idea

of couou're thinking for a mobile then yorse, I'm speking about on a laptop, if you have to consider what restrictions if any you have on bandwidth (how much data you download) as the songs are all 'streamed' to your device

Thanks, John59, that is a very gracious offer. It will not be necessary, as I have decided I will install Spotify, but in about a month or so when I expect to be less busy. (This time of year always rush to get jobs done before Winter precludes them)

Thanks once again for help.
