Haynes Manual
How many of you had one of these to accompany older cars possessed in your youth, when to repair and service your own vehicle was a lot more straight forward?

We have a 1959 Hillman Minx, priscus, and we've got the Hayne's manual to go with it!

I had a proper B.M.C. Workshop manual for my Mini.( In fact as I am typing this I am looking at one for The Austin Cambridge Saloon) All I did was change the thermostat and fan belt, and change the oil and filter. That was about my limit

I see that they now do a Haynes Manual for nuclear submarines.
OK, I surmise that it is in fact NOT a DIY maintenance/repair guide.
I recall a few years ago, when the Royal Naval Engineering team (at Edinburgh Tattoo) Took the record for changing a mini engine. I think it took them 22 seconds!
Can't get it out of my head: the image of that same team scratching their heads as they pore over the Haynes Manual, with their submarine in pieces all around them.

I can see it now! Mechanic with Haynes manual in hand kicking the rudder of the nuclear sub and, with a sharp intake of breath through clenched teeth, going “aye it’s not goint be cheap mate, can you leave it with me?”
