Standards.

I was born at the beginning of the forties,so I've seen first hand what it was to be poor, there was no money for anything only food and clothing but people had standards, gardens were kept as well as possible, homes were clean and tidy, shops would sweep and clean the outsides daily, how things have changed,it seems as long as there's a new lump of tin on the drive (CAR)and the bin is full of ready meal boxes, thats life these days.

Dave, I remember those days.. We all were in the same boat, but fortunately we didn't know any different, so we were fine with it.. Only when ITV and commercials on TV, did we see things we had never seen before, did we realize all that was out there.. In fact, I would go so far to say my childhood holds most of my favourite memories....

I was born in 1939,and I believe it was the best time to be born,we didn't have much, but what you never had you didn't miss,so I was happy when I was a kid, plenty of good jobs when you left school, and almost everyone I knew did, or could buy their own house, and lots retired early with decent pensions, and never got involved with Elf & Safety or Smart phones.
