Started by: admin (323) Report abuse
Just received this email Can anyone help?

Hi ,my Uncle whose 71, distinctly remembers a big old pub on the corner of corporation st on poolstock lane, he said it was across the road from where I used to live at 46 poolstock lane. But there was nothing there when I lived there in 1979 or 1980, he thinks it may have been called The New Inn, but I can't find anything about it. Can you help please. He may be going back to the 60,s or earlier I think.

Can't remember the name of pub, not The New Inn

Behind the pub was a bowling green; accessed over a bridge that crossed the River Douglas

The pub on the corner of Poolstock and Corporation Street was the Westwood.. It was opposite to the old Labour club.
My dad used to drink in there and played in the same card school as Billy Boston. The landlord was Jack Garry.
