corrie
so what do you think of this suicide story? A bit disturbing for me. I know it highlights the issue and mental health but It's not what I want in a soap. Even though I knew it was coming I thought it was too much and deeply sad. yes I know it's not real.

I think a different storyline should have been used, which would give the right 'shock' effect to the public and appeal to soap haters like meself ...
The old Weatherfield Colliery has had a build up of methane gas and there is a lot of it, but since the Colliery was closed and filled in some 70 years ago, the gas has remained trapped and insitchoo and has posed no danger, but 7 miles away at the side of the M62 Quadgrilla are in a field 'fracking'
After drilling down, they drill sideways, thinking they are going South under Cheshire, but because of a software fault, they are actually drilling East and unbeknown to them, their drill enters the old workings of Weatherfield Colliery and the methane gas and residual air mix, is just right for perfect combustion (explosion)....
Outside of the fracking site, lots of angry weirdo's are fighting with the police, because Quadgrilla have announced that they are ready to explode there first underground bomb, in order to frack the rock and release the gas and after the explosion takes place and for the first few minutes afterwoods, nothing happens and just as the boss of the fracking site is on live television, giving a statement to the media, with his hard hat and suit on, saying that the 'fracking' as been successful and they are waiting for the first gas to come through, there is a rumble and the ground starts to shake and an old weirdo's shouts out "a towd thi, frackin causes earthqwakes" and at that the well head blows off and flame shoots out three hundred feet into the air and the epicentre of the explosion is directly under Weatherfield and Coronation Street and the surrounding streets are shaken to the ground, as fissures open up in the ground with flames shooting out of the ground, the cataclysm, makes Weatherfield sink down by 50 ft and the explosion as caused a soonami on the Manchester Sip Canal and this torrent of water engulfs what is left of Weatherfield and everybody is killed except for Ken Barlow, teflon Ken and what is left of Coronation Street now remains at the bottom of the man made lake, caused by the explosion
As the title music starts to play on the last ever episode of Coronation Street, the ghosts of Ena Sharples, Mini Caldwell and Martha Longhurst appear in the sky above Weatherfield and they are laughing

If it brings to light how often this happens, in young people, then it must be a good thing.

Maybe you should write scripts for Corrie, TTS 😂

basil brush - I sort of agree. Suicide seems much more common now doesn't it? Growing up and even until the last 10 years it was unheard of. it's just so sad that anyone feels that everyone is better off without them. I don't know what the answer is.
yes TTS - get into script writing , but not for Corrie eh?

Totally agree 👍, kath.
Do do a script TTS, but not for corrie, we don't want it ruined altogether

Corrie can have that script for nothing

It was sad and another dark Corrie storyline, though excellent acting from Shayne Ward.
Let's hope the new producer brings the comedy scenes back.

excellent episode last night. So sad! listening to Gail talk and seeing how the death affected all the other characters in the street was so well done. This episode has got to be a winner at the next TV awards

Very emotional, last night.

Excellent acting from all involved.
The range of emotions and attitudes reflected how differently people react to a suicide.

The harrowing Coronation Street storyline which saw Aidan Connor take his own life has prompted a flood of requests for help to a suicide prevention charity, while others have taken to social media to share their stories and urge people to seek help

I think Ian Dury is doing a good job playing Aiden Connor's dad.

I think the story shows how hard suicide is on families and riends. Aiden's dad wants answers and someone to blame, His sister is angry that her brother couldinflict this pain on them. Jenny can see her dreams crumbling but can't do anything about it. Top acting by all the cast I think

Top script writing too.

Yes it dealt with the impact and after affects and didn't dwell on the body and how he died

True Kath. Anyone who has been affected in real life by what the Corrie story line has portrayed, will recognise and understand all the emotions and reactions of everyone involved in the tragedy.
