Started by: jarvo (27965)  Report abuse
It seems the flu jabs aren't working this year.

So many folk suffering. Including myself.

Help...

Well , if it is any thing like we had in Australia last winter God Help you. cos you will need him

Posted by: jathbee (8573) Report abuse
It's a sub-strain that is causing the problem.

Posted by: aussie94 (1636) Report abuse
jathbee , My GP tells me that they got the vacine wrong and that caused so many problems. She is the best Dr in Aus and I will take her advice all the time

I prefer to believe what your Doc says than what I read in the papers. Thanks Aussie94. Wide open to the flu then, not happy.

A wise man once said:

"If you're looking for sympathy, it's in the dictionary between s**t and syphilis"

Posted by: jathbee (8573) Report abuse
If you are talking to me. I wasn't looking for sympathy, just stating a fact.
And certainly don't need a dictionary for the others.

Posted by: bridger (inactive) Report abuse
OP looking for sympathy. Not you.

Posted by: jathbee (8573) Report abuse
Okay, sorry.

Yes. He is a bit of a mardy a**e.

I had the flu vaccine once. And all I can say is, never again..I got the flu straightaway afterwards and could not get rid of it. Terrible.

Posted by: jathbee (8573) Report abuse
Had the flu jab for the past nine years, including this year. Never had a problem, neither has my husband, brothers, sister nor my sis-in-law nor many, many others of my age.

...Flu doesn't affect vampires....

Idiot.

Not like you get a reflection, is it?

Agree with Jathbee on this subject,we have the jab every year & never had a problem.A Doctor was interviewed on TV this week & says the jab will never make you get flu

Posted by: momac (8600)  Report abuse
Same here NJ..we too have had the jab every year with no problems..the
one year I didn't have it ten years ago I got the flu which flattened me..I was
seeing things crawl all over everywhere..so no thanks it's the jab for me
every time.

Posted by: nanajacqui (1098)  Report abuse
Momac lots of folk say they've got flu & it's just a cold.Like you I had it in 1976 & was in bed four days, thought I was strong enough without help & fainted in the bathroom.Went back to work after 2 weeks off,not nice is it ?

Posted by: jarvo (27965)  Report abuse
My original point was that the 'jab' hadn't worked on the particular strain that is going about.

Blame the NHS, eh?

People with heart conditions are particularly vulnerable as the flu attacks the respiratory system.

Vampires are not affected, of course.

Posted by: momac (8600)  Report abuse
Yes NJ..it's true,if they had flu they wouldn't even be able to stand up,

I don't think the lifelong pneumonia jab is quite as successful. I had mine over ten years ago and still had pneumonia, albeit a foreign strain. Apparently it could have been worse had I not had the jab.

Posted by: jathbee (8573) Report abuse
You needn't worry about vampires. None would want what flows through your veins.👹😂

Posted by: bridger (inactive) Report abuse
There he goes again, fishing for sympathy. Obviously it won't affect him, because based on some of the comments he makes here, there's nothing more than a swinging brick inside.

Anne, When I had my flu jab a couple of years ago they asked if i had had the pneumonia jab and I said yes 10/15 years ago and they said I needed another. I said I thought they lasted a lifetime but the nurse said I needed another and the one they were giving me would last a lifetime.

Posted by: Anne (3207)  Report abuse
Thanks broady I will look into that. It was possibly three years after I had the jab I came down with pneumonia, as I said, foreign, somewhere from around the Red Sea area.
